MMA World Rejoices at the Expense of Joe Rogan as Dana White’s Troubles Resolved With “Massive Upgrade” for UFC 315

Joe Rogan has some pretty strong opinions about visiting Canada. During the last episode of the JRE Fight Companion, as UFC London entertained the MMA realm, he told his audience that he had no intention of going to the North American country and commentating as Belal Muhammad got ready to defend his welterweight belt against Jack Della Maddalena. “I won’t be there. I don’t go to Canada anymore… I’d rather go to Russia.” But now, there have been new developments in the broadcasting team, and a new entry into the UFC 315 commentary booth that made the fighting community take a sigh of relief.

But first, let’s see why the famed UFC color commentator doesn’t wish to go to Canada. Well, the 57-year-old claimed that it was all because of the Canadian government. He labeled it as a “full-blown communist takeover” and promised to stay out of the Canadian borders till Justin Trudeau leaves the throne. But now that Trudeau has vacated the Prime Minister’s office, Rogan’s feelings still seem to stand strong.

To be fair, Rogan wasn’t really targeting the Canadian public. He claimed, “It’s because of the government, and it has nothing to do with the people. I think the people are f—ing lovely. They’re some of my favorite people of all time. Canadian people, I always say that Canada is like America, but with 20% fewer d—bags. They’re the nicest people, they’re well-educated, it’s a great population…I love Canada.” And how is the UFC showing love to Canada?

It seems Dana White and Co. found the replacement for Rogan. Dominick Cruz will now join the broadcasting team for UFC 315. Yes, this means we’ll get to see the commentary mashup with Daniel Cormier, Jon Anik, and ‘The Dominator’, as the audience in Centre Bell, Montreal, cheer for their favorite fighters.

Sure, Rogan will miss hanging out with his pals Anik and Cormier. A few weeks ago, he had confessed on his podcast “So there’s like two color commentators, me and Daniel, and this Jon Anik, who’s the play-by-play guy. Me and Daniel f— around a lot. We joke around a lot about stuff during the, because he’s like a fun guy. But when things are serious, we’re serious.”

This news was recently dropped on Instagram by MMA Fighting. And as soon as the post crossed the threshold of IG, fight fans took control of the comments section. Let’s take a look at what the fighting community had to say.

Fight fans have a single emotion for Dominick Cruz replacing Joe Rogan at UFC 315

The fighting realm believed that Cruz in the commentary booth was a “Massive upgrade” for the event. With Cruz’s analytical and detailed commentary style, fans were assured to get some intricate intel about fighters’ movements and tactics. And that greatly excited the fighting world. One fan claimed, “Cruz is great so this is improvement for me.” Another fan expressed gratitude and wrote, “Thank you dominick Cruz .”

On the other hand, Rogan often tends to go off-script during his commentary. And that is a big red flag for fight fans, even though he has great enthusiasm and technical knowledge. One fan pointed at this and commented, “Good, Rogans commentary been s— for years.” Some of the fans were ready to accept anyone except Rogan. One of them wrote, “Happy to not hear Rogan freak out over nothing so people think he’s actually invested or interested. The dude brings nothing to the table now other than nostalgia. Give me Paul Felder on commentary paired with any other fighter and I’m good.”

Back at UFC 313, Rogan had made a blunder that even had Israel Adesanya doubling up with laughter. The 57-year-old accidentally called Iasmin Lucindo a ‘young man’ as she was walking out to face Amanda Lemos. The UFC commentator was caught saying, “Amanda Lemos is very dangerous. Very dangerous. But this young man has tremendous potential.” Israel Adesanya’s friend noticed the gaffe and said, “Did he say this ‘young man’ has tremendous potential?”

Adesanya’s teammate pointed it out but the former champion had to rewind to make sure. The slip-up got a laugh out of everyone watching but such errors on commentary invite heat in hindsight.

Meanwhile, a few others decided to bring in a little bit of sarcasm into the comments section. Highlighting Rogan’s trends, one fan wrote, “What am I gonna do without hearing “oh it’s over! he’s got it!” during every single submission attempt?” Another fan added, “Nooo, i wanna listen to talk about calf kicks and over-exaggerating to minor damage from joe .”
