Conor McGregor is trying to appeal the civil suit where he was found liable for s—-ly as—–ing Nikita Hand in a hotel in 2018. He was ordered to pay 248,000 Euros (around $280,000) and Ms. Hand’s 1.5 million Euro legal fees as part of the judgment. And in a case management hearing about whether the case should be tried in an appeals court, the former UFC champion’s legal team is trying to introduce new evidence.
According to reports, Hand’s former neighbors have submitted affidavits which may explain bruising on the complainant’s hand, which was a crucial part in the jury’s finding McGregor liable. One of the witnesses is claiming that she saw Hand and her former partner, Stephen Redmond, arguing on the night on which the incident with McGregor is alleged to have taken place, after which she suspects Redmond laid hands on her. And McGregor’s team is alleging that this was the source of Hand’s bruised arm.
Ms. Hand has rubbished this claim and called it a fabrication. “I don’t want to speculate on why [they] are making up these lies,” she said in a statement. “My ex-partner Stephen Redmond [known as ‘Ste’] did not ass–lt me on the night of December 9/10, 2018, and never ass—-ed me in the course of our relationship, or since.”

Ms. Hand’s legal team is challenging the inclusion of the evidence in the case and questioning why the couple didn’t come forward earlier. The judge hearing the case believes that a three-judge bench should decide whether to admit the statements as evidence in the case. Hearings have been set for 1 and 2 July to determine the fate of the fresh evidence and whether the case should be tried in an appeals court.
Is Conor McGregor shifting his attention to the UFC from politics?
Conor McGregor’s political ambitions were pretty short-lived. The Irishman, inspired by the victory of President Donald Trump, had vowed to run for President on his native Republic of Ireland. But unfortunately, the legal stipulations which require any candidate for President to be endorsed either by parliamentarians or local councils, mean that ‘Mystic Mac’ cannot even get nominated, let alone become the President of Ireland.
This is probably why he is hinting at a UFC comeback, and teasing Michael Chandler yet again. Not many people believe he is sincere about wanting to come back, though, and see his hints at a comeback as nothing but a way to remain relevant and make headlines. Conor McGregor, after all, loves attention.
The Irishman is signed to the UFC and has two fights left on his contract. So maybe he does come back after all. He will not be a truly free man until the UFC contract is ended, since he will require Dana White’s blessings to fight, say a Jake or Logan Paul, or a Manny Pacquiao in the ring. So there is a chance he does come back to the UFC, if nothing, then to just fight out his contract and take his destiny back into his own hands without anyone else having a veto. What do you think about the fresh evidence in the Conor McGregor civil suit?
