Will Aaron Rodgers be a part of the NFL in 2025? That is a big question, and frankly, there is still no confirmation. The Jets did not have a great season, finishing with just five wins, but was that just due to Rodgers’ performance? Absolutely not! There were very few positives about the Jets’ 2024 season, and undeniably, Rodgers was one of them. The veteran QB performed admirably, even while dealing with a torn Achilles. He literally showed everyone he had more left to give, but was it enough to convince Glenn and the Jets’ leadership?
Well, it appears they were convinced, and news of Rodgers staying with the Jets could be made public soon. However, there is a catch! Given Rodgers’ age, the Jets will definitely look for future options at the QB position, and even if Rodgers stays for another season, he will most certainly need to take a pay cut. Currently, Rodgers’ scheduled base salary for the 2025 season is $37.5 million, and with the Jets reportedly linked with a $12 million QB option, it makes perfect sense.
Jameis Winston, the former Saints QB and now a free agent, has been linked with the Jets. Consequently, many are unconvinced if Rodgers will stay with the Jets for another season. Justin Melo of the Draft Network is one such individual who recently wrote about the Jets’ QB situation. He stated, “Aaron Glenn is the new head coach of the New York Jets. Glenn’s highest priority will be to improve what was a toxic culture this season. That probably begins with moving on from controversial quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Rodgers gamble failed miserably in East Rutherford, and it’s now time for a reset.”

The Winston move makes more sense, given that Glenn worked with him at the Saints back in 2020. With the Winston move becoming increasingly likely, Rodgers will have to make a decision. If he wishes to stay with the Jets and potentially in the NFL, he will need to accept a salary cut. It is possible for Rodgers and Winston to be at the Jets together, but that would certainly mean less game time for the 41-year-old. For now, we will just have to wait and see what unfolds in the Jets’ QB saga.
Where could Aaron Rodgers end up?
If the Jets and Rodgers part ways, will that mark the end of the legendary QB’s NFL career? While a few teams are in need of a QB, does Rodgers fit anywhere? For one, Tom Brady’s Raiders definitely require a marquee player at the QB position, and although many believe that Rodgers would be an improvement over their current roster, he is merely a short-term solution. That makes sense; at 41, Rodgers will likely be around for only 1-2 seasons, whereas the Raiders need a long-term solution.
What about the Titans? Could Rodgers head to Nashville? The age factor comes into play here again. The Titans boast a very young squad, making Rodgers an unlikely fit there. One could argue, however, that Rodgers’ presence could be beneficial for the young Levis, but it seems unlikely that Callahan would choose a 41-year-old QB during their rebuilding phase.
It appears that staying with the Jets is the only viable option for the legendary QB, and even that looks dicey at the moment. So, will the Packers legend decide to hang up his cleats? Or will he continue to be the main man for the Jets in 2025? We’ll just have to wait to find out.
