Things are getting heated in Denver! Game 6 between OKC and the Nuggets is turning into a real dogfight, and we just saw some “ugly scenes” pop off between Aaron Gordon and Alex Caruso that perfectly capture the playoff intensity. You know how it is – both squads are desperate, fighting for every inch, and that’s exactly what led to this flare-up, which ended up costing Denver big time.
At the 9:10 mark of the second quarter, head crew chief Mark Davis had to step in as things got heated between Aaron Gordon and Alex Caruso. Gordon was battling to receive the inbound pass, but Caruso smothered him with physical defense, refusing to give an inch. The tussle escalated near the sideline, prompting Payton Watson and Jaylin Williams to step in and separate the two before it got out of hand.
Moments later, Gordon and Caruso were going at it again—without Mark Davis having to intervene. Battling hard for position near the 3-point line while the Nuggets were trying to inbound the ball. We all know Caruso—he’s a bulldog, never backs down, and he was absolutely not giving an inch to the bigger Gordon. You could feel the tension, that raw physicality, as they got tangled up. You could see the frustration building on their faces.
That whole scrap for space? It blew up in Denver’s face. Their first try to get the ball in? No good. Second attempt, with Gordon and Caruso still practically wrestling and the pressure cooker cranked to high, the Nuggets just flat-out turned the ball over.
A “bad, bad sequence for Denver,” as observed by Luca Evans of the Denver Post.
Skirmish here in Denver and Thunder take advantage. Aaron Gordon and Alex Caruso jockey for position, Caruso doesn’t give ground, two inbounds attempts end in a Nuggets turnover.
Just a bad, bad sequence for Denver. pic.twitter.com/W64WZ12SJl
