It’s Paige Bueckers Day in Minnesota! And the fact that she’s going up against her very own hometown team is just poetic. Imagine the crowd – torn between cheering for their beloved Lynx or the golden girl they watched grow up. Well, Paige’s big debut isn’t just some sentimental moment. It’s the first page in her RoTY campaign and a clean slate for a Dallas squad that desperately needs a new chapter after that nightmare of a 2024 season.
It surely looks like Dallas came with something to prove. Because before the game, if you’d asked anyone for a prediction, the safe bet was Lynx all day. But by halftime, the scoreboard read 46-46 and suddenly things weren’t looking so comfy for Minnesota. In fact, Napheesa Collier didn’t hold back.
When asked how the first half felt, she said, “I mean, it’s been pretty bad. They’re getting pretty much everything that they want. I am sure we’re gonna talk about it in the halftime. If we want to win, we’ve got to change it in the second half.” And about that defense, she added, “We need to be there for each other. We’re doing stupid fouls. We need to lock in on defense.”
