Juan Soto Reveals Hilarious Reason Why He Tipped Helmet to Hostile Yankees Fans During Bronx Return

The Subway Series 2025 – the opener was already pre-loaded with intensity. It barely needed any more heat. However, best believe the Yankees’ fans, they never miss a chance to push things further. The Yankees dominated the Mets with a 6-2 win, but before that, the local fans ensured they let Juan Soto know what he was missing out on. From the moment Soto entered the field to his jog towards the outfield, he was booed brutally by the local fans.

Soto, with his calm demeanor however, responded to the boos gracefully. He swiftly tipped off his helmet and held it to his chest. That didn’t stop the boos, but it said a lot about him. After the game, Soto made a media appearance. From the man himself, we got to know why he tipped off the helmet when he returned to the Bronx for the first time.

He revealed, “I was ready for it. They’re really passionate fans and they’re going to do the best for their teams and they just feel that way.” Soto acknowledged that the fans were simply being loyal to their team. Then, his signature helmet tip was brought up by the interviewer. The 26-year-old was asked if it was a spur-of-the-moment reaction or something he had thought about previously. He hilariously replied, “We just joking at the dugout and I should do it and I just did it. Guys just love it.”

During the game, when Soto was making his way towards the plate, the reporters referred to that and asked what was going through his mind at that time. He replied, “It’s just you got to embrace it at the end of the day, whatever they give you. You got to be a professional. You got to take it as a man.” Soto cleared that he didn’t take the boos to heart.

He went hitless against the Yankees, finishing off 0-for-2 with three walks. Yet, after the game, he praised his former teammates for their stellar performance. Despite the fact that this was the worst Soto had ever been booed, he stood by the idea of “embracing” it.

Hitless night for Juan Soto, but a Strong Start for Yankees in Subway Showdown

Juan Soto’s first return after signing with the Mets didn’t really go as planned. He was greeted with hostility by the Yankees fans during his first at-bat. Meanwhile, the Yankees had a good one, snatching away a 6-2 win.

They were desperate for a win. From May 3rd to 5th, they lost three straight games. But now, for seven games, they’ve had winning odds in their favor. They wanted to maintain it for this game as well. Three names from the Yankees’ lineup have helped the team get a much-needed lead: Cody Bellinger, Paul Goldschmidt, and Aaron Judge.

Out of the Yankees’ overall right hits, Bellinger alone hit three of them. His current batting average sits at .340 across the past 11 games. During the third and fourth innings against the Mets, Goldschmidt drove in runs with singles. That’s exactly when the Yankees scored all of their runs.

When it comes to their captain, Aaron Judge, he had a stellar night. He went 2-for-4 with 2 runs and 1 walk. Judge is now leading the league with a .414 average. For Saturday’s matchup, Clarke Schmidt will be starting for the Yankees. Not to forget, it was his first win of the season against the Mets.

Now, all eyes will be on how the Mets manage to tackle the Yankees for the second match on Saturday. Juan Soto will naturally be under the spotlight.

Do you think the Mets will be able to turn things around in the next matchup?
