Dana White has outstanding business acumen, and we all know it. UFC is a stark reminder of how sharp the head honcho’s mind is. He made a name worth nothing into a billion-dollar business within 30 years. On top of that, the UFC boss does not put all the eggs in one basket.
He has other lucrative ventures like Power Slap, Boxing, and even Bull Fighting (PBR). Remember when people did not believe Power Slap would be a famous gig? Just like in the 2000s when people thought UFC was done for? What did White say about Power Slap then? “I said it – go back. Some of you were there and heard me in the early days,” White said after Power Slap 8. “I said, ‘This will be the biggest sport in the world. This will be bigger than the UFC. This will be bigger than the UFC.”
And he proved it! It is not just the UFC, but also the $750 million worth of Power Slap that has surpassed the NBA on social media views. Dana White reshared the story from Freak MMA’s page and wrote, “Boooooom @powerslap. And it still keeps growing consistently.” The picture Freak MMA shared showed the PowerSlap social media overview stats. With 22 million followers on social media, Power Slap has 474 million views on the most viewed YouTube shorts of all time, among many other accolades. Compared to that, the NBA has 28 million on YouTube shorts. On top of that, the NBA has an ongoing crisis when Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets jumped out of the NBA playoffs after losing Game 7 against the OKC Thunder.
Even though everything seems well with Power Slap, what about the new boxing venture? We are sensing some tensions ever since His Excellency Turki Alalshikh took to X to announce a significant outcome, signaling that Dana White may not be involved anymore in the Canelo vs. Crawford showdown.
Are Turki Alalshikh and Dana White not on good terms?
Earlier this year, the UFC head honcho announced a much-anticipated entrance into boxing by partnering with Saudi promoter Turki Alalshikh. The new venture operates under the UFC-WWE umbrella of TKO Holdings. The promotions’ official name has not been revealed yet, but they confirmed the league’s September 2025 launch in Las Vegas.
The excitement among fans skyrocketed when Canelo Álvarez signed a four-fight deal with Saudi administrators, igniting rumors that his first bout would be against pound-for-pound best Terence Crawford. However, in a recent twist, Turki Alalshikh posted about this matchup, and it seems like Dana White will not be a part of this event. His Excellency posted on X saying, “We have confirmed the promoter for Canelo v Crawford will be Sela for Riyadh Season. The broadcaster has not decided yet, but the date will be Saturday, 13th September. More details soon …”
Dana White and Alalshikh were seen announcing the new venture together, and it seemed like the UFC boss man was heavily involved. But now, since Sela has been announced as the new promoter, the UFC CEO appears to have been sidelined for this event. There has been no update about this from the boss man, so we have to wait and see what happens. What do you think is going on? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
