If Michigan can get an overall No. 1 recruit to flip to Ann Arbor, they can make some more splashes in recruiting. This time, Sherrone Moore and Co. are circling above one such elite talent to back up this very recruit, aka Bryce Underwood. Michigan can source the money, and Michigan has the necessary facilities to attract new recruits. They’ve hit a slump in their 2026 recruiting. But if they manage to get this star talent in the bag, Underwood and Moore will be two very happy guys at Ann Arbor.
It has been difficult for the Wolverines’ front office to impress new talent. They’re still dealing with blows coming their way from the 2023 sign-stealing scandal. Ann Arbor is rocky ground now, and naturally, no future CFB player wants to jeopardize their career. But Michigan has recently made its way into the top 4 possible destinations of 5-star EDGE Carter Meadows. Moore will look to bank on the program’s pattern of recruiting guys from Gonzaga, where Meadows plays. He would be a prime target for Michigan, which hasn’t had luck in recruiting guys from this position in some time.
In a May 21 video of The Wolverines podcast, EJ Holland shared his thoughts. “Meadows is that tall, long edge that Michigan did not land last cycle. When you look at Meadows, he’s 6’6 and a half, 225 pounds. Has a lot of room to add weight and power to his game. I think that’s the biggest thing with Meadows is just building up, adding strength.” Meadows tallied 65 total tackles and 5 sacks in his 3 years in high school and still has one more to go. He could potentially be Michigan’s next Gonzaga recruit, following Evan Link and Kainoa Winston.

But football is not the only sport the EDGE shines in, which makes him an even more attractive recruit. “He’s always been a really high-level basketball player. At one point early on, he thought he was going to go the basketball route. He’s blossomed into one of the best football recruits in the country,” Holland added about Meadows.
“I think the Wolverines have the momentum going into summer official visits.” The EDGE will visit Michigan officially on June 20. But Sherrone Moore also has to fight off players like Penn State, Ohio State, and South Carolina. Clearly, this won’t be an easy fight.
As Moore hopes to land another blue-chip recruit to his program, his QB ensures that he isn’t jumping ship. Particularly because Michigan is currently traveling through choppy waters.
Bryce Underwood confirms to Sherrone Moore he’s not going anywhere
With the Wolverines in the dark about their future, rival fans were quick to conspire that maybe all’s not well with Bryce Underwood. The NCAA Committee on Infractions is set for a trial on Michigan’s sign-stealing scandal, hopefully looking to finally end the drama. The program already imposed a two-game ban on Sherrone Moore, who deleted 52 texts between him and the prime accused, Connor Stalions. With an HC in hot soup and fears of more severe punishments growing, rumors of Underwood possibly leaving Michigan spread like wildfire.
But Underwood was not fazed by it at all. “lol, yall say anything on social media,” he wrote on X, giving it back to the conspirators who began such rumors. Reportedly, the OSU fans were the culprits. They implied that Michigan could no longer afford Underwood’s 12 million package, and that’s why he was leaving. That, too, for LSU. Underwood completed spring camp already and is slated to be in Michigan for a long time. That longevity was a mandate in the 12 million package—Underwood will comfortably be a Wolverine for future seasons.
The star QB will be the center of attention this year at Michigan football. And to aid his game and help him exploit his full potential, Sherrone Moore will look to score Carter Meadows for the ride as well. But it won’t happen without a serious recruiting battle taking place between three of the biggest CFB programs.
