More than 30,000 fight fans have signed the petition for the UFC to strip Jon Jones of his heavyweight title. You see, things were already a bit slow for the heavyweight division. And with ‘Bones’ averting his eyes every single time Tom Aspinall came around, he was bound to have a terrible repercussion. The Britisher, after he became the interim heavyweight champion, was supposed to get a shot at the title immediately. However, he was forced to defend his interim title. Needless to say, this created quite an uproar in the fighting community. But the fans had had enough. It came to the point where the netizens demanded that Dana White and Co. strip ‘Bones’ of his position and let Aspinall rise and become the new champion.
Of course, Jones was already ready to opt for retirement. He recently tweeted, “I don’t know if I wanna call it retired, I feel like I’ll always have an ability to pop out and show em. I’ve had many breaks throughout my career, my identity outside of fighting is well intact. I’m genuinely enjoying life, I’m growing in different ways.” Well, he certainly planned to claim 1 or 2 more wins in the Octagon before kickstarting his acting career. But all he has been doing lately is disappointing the fans by apparently ducking Tom Aspinall. However, if the UFC heeds the online petition and decides to strip Jones of his title, there would be a major problem for the USA.
DovySimuMMA took to X to reveal, “When Jon Jones is stripped, USA won’t have anymore champions.” The flyweight realm is ruled by Alexandre Pantoja from Brazil, Merab Dvalishvili, Georgian champion, is on the bantamweight throne, Dricus Du Plessis from South Africa is the middleweight champion. Russia has two champions – Islam Makhachev and Magomed Ankalaev. Even Australia has two champions – Alexander Volkanovski and Jack Della Maddalena. And with Aspinall as the next possible heavyweight champion, the belt would go to England.
This was indeed a wake-up call for the American fight fans. Soon after MMA Uncensored Plus shared the bizarre news on their Instagram profile, the fighting community took over the comments section to reveal their thoughts. Let’s see what they had to say.

It seemed like the fighting world was frustrated with Jones putting a halt to the heavyweight division. One of the fans suggested that the UFC can reverse it all and make Jones an interim champion. In the meantime, UFC could push Aspinall to the championship throne. The comment read, “Reverse it and make Jon interm.” Another fan suggested, “Work hard. Dream big .”
Meanwhile, some of the fans dragged the POTUS into the picture. One of the fans wrote, “Donald Trump may not like that USA does not have any champions, and that’s why they are making Jon Jones carry the HW title longer as he can.” However, many others believed that America had many champions. And Jones vacating his belt simply meant that the UFC was letting others catch up. The comment went like, “USA has literally the most champions it’s okay to let the world catch up.”
However, the fighting realm couldn’t avert its eyes from the BMF belt. Even if White strips Jones of his championship title, America would still have Max Holloway as the BMF champion. And in case Dustin Poirier defeated Holloway in their trilogy fight, the belt would still remain in the USA. One of the fans commented, “BMF title only for US ” Another fan added, “Max Holloway is the BMF Champion and he’s from Hawaii, he’s the only American champ left if Jones is stripped from his title.”
