Who is Jason Carson? Personal Life, Career, Interests & More

At 52, Jason Caron is shaking things up on the Senior Tour with some outstanding performances. He has made 17 out of 18 cuts and had 7 top-10 finishes in them. Having only joined the PGA Tour Champions this year, Caron is already proving to be a threat to everyone on the Charles Schwab Cup leaderboard. While he may not have won any titles so far, he has consistently challenged for the top spot on the leaderboard during his short stint. But it’s not the Champions Tour where Jason Caron started his career.

He may not have achieved much success, but the New Yorker has been pursuing professional golf for quite a while. He turned pro a couple of years before Tiger Woods, in 1994. Since then, Caron has played across the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour often. He has 68 PGA Tour appearances to his name with only 21 cuts made. The Greenlawn local has frequented the Korn Ferry Tour more often, making 99 cuts in 168. Despite being winless, Caron has had 20 top-10 finishes with a couple of runner-up finishes.

In 2002, during Woods’s win in the U.S. Open, the 52-year-old had his best finish in the only cut he made in a major. He ended up at T30 with a 12-over par 292. Caron managed to out-rank the likes of Greg Norman, John Daly, and Bernhard Langer on the leaderboard at Bethpage. His two other appearances in majors, the 2019 and 2020 PGA Championships, saw him miss the cut.

Outside the Tour, Caron has had a few wins to his name. In 2012, he captured the Connecticut Open, and the American pro golfer won the PGA Stroke Play Championship in 2017 and 2020. Having completed his education at Charleston Southern University, Caron also played collegiate golf during his youth. While there is little information about his record as an amateur, he officially joined the Buccaneers Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.

Jason Caron’s efforts with the club are not the only highlight of his life. He has fulfilled other roles in his career as well.

Jason Caron is so much more than just a golfer

He and his wife, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Caron, are known as the dynamic duo who run the Mill River Club. It’s a country club located in Oyster Bay, New York, and the Carons manage the golf operations of the club. They elevated the club membership by creating an excellent golf program to guide the members.

The Carons’ affiliation with golf doesn’t end there. Fans might not be as aware of Liz Caron as they might be of Liz Janangelo. She is a former LPGA Tour star who has featured in many majors. Coincidentally, a year after Jason’s T30 in the U.S. Open, Liz also finished at T30 in the 2003 U.S. Women’s Open. Like her husband, that was also her best finish in majors, while she missed the cut or withdrew every other time. She has also played on the Epson Tour, which was known as the Futures Tour when she was a part of it.

The couple’s love for golf is evident, and their efforts in the sport have defined their lives. But was golf what brought them together?

The life of Jason Caron and Liz Janangelo

Jason Caron and Liz Janangelo enjoyed their respective careers as professional golfers. While golf was a common factor between the two, it wasn’t the sport that brought them together. Jason and Liz met in an art gallery in Florida in 2008. Their love for golf made it easy for them to connect, and they became good friends then. Friendship turned into a relationship and grew into a beautiful marriage over the years.

After building their professional golf careers and working together to run The Mill River Club, the two have also formed a beautiful family. While Jason continues to play the sport at a Senior level, the couple prioritizes raising their two daughters, Caroline and Julia. Caroline is 12 years old, and Julia is still only 8. Comparing his love for golf to being a father, Caron had said, “Having little kids and being able to watch them grow up means a lot more to me than hitting a white golf ball down the fairway,” in an interview from 2024.

While he continues to peak on the fairway in the PGA Tour Champions, we might also get to see two new members of the Caron family pursue golf and become second-generation stars.
