Olivia Dunne Once Again Under Fire From Trolls as Her Clapback Attempt Falls Flat

Just when Olivia Dunne thought that she could beat trolls in their own game, it all backfired. The internet can be a brutal place. And this LSU fan-favorite gymnast-turned-media sensation has surely learnt this after her recent back-and-forth. She found herself locked in a never-ending tug-of-war with the comment section, only to learn that this is a different kind of sport– certainly not the one she’s trained in. What happened next? Let’s just say… the trolls weren’t ready to surrender their crown.

The former LSU gymnast took to her TikTok on May 24, 2025, to post a lip-sync video of Rae Sremmurd‘s 2016 hit Swang. The lyrics she chose? If you have heard the song, you would know. Going with the trend, the 2024 NCAA champion was mouthing the words, “I could have went to school to be a doctor (doctor) But I dropped out and chose to be a baller”. She captioned the video, 12th yr senior comment incoming #workout #sauna”.

Dunne has been mocked for taking a fifth year at LSU, a decision permitted by the NCAA due to COVID-19 disruptions. And the 12th-year comment is a classic of the trolls. This time, though, one of them went overboard to comment, “Try 20th year graduate “. This is not a one or two-time thing either. Every one of her posts could be seen marked with those messages. During LSU’s senior night, Olivia Dunne shared a heartfelt video celebrating the occasion. Trolled. Again.

In another instance, a TikTok user commented on Dunne’s video, suggesting she had been in school for 10 years. Dunne clapped back with, “That’s a weird way of calling me an educated queen but I’ll take it,“. After LSU clinched the 2025 SEC gymnastics championship, Dunne posted celebratory photos on Instagram. Despite being sidelined due to injury, she faced comments like these.

Olivia Dunne under fire again

It was evident that Dunne tried to walk ahead of the joke by putting up a self-aware caption. But right on cue, the internet delivered. The very first comment? “12th year senior,” staring back at her like a meme that refuses to die. It’s unclear who first coined the line—by now, it’s practically a public domain thing in her comment sections. Still, one troll decided to take it a step further, claiming, “I feel blessed a 12th-year senior made her caption my comment,” as if Dunne had built the whole post around him.

For reference, Dunne committed to LSU in 2017 and officially signed her National Letter of Intent in November 2019. She began attending LSU in the fall of 2020, joining the Tigers gymnastics team for the 2020–21 season. In December 2024, Dunne graduated from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies.

Due to NCAA eligibility extensions granted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dunne had the option for an additional year of competition. In July 2024, she announced her decision to return to LSU for a fifth and final season in 2025. That is where the trolls came from, like this one saying, “Bros been a senior for like 7641 years” or this one who has a suggestion for her, citing, “Just be a professor at this point”. Another one wrote, “With the 10 years you been there you couldve done alot of stuff.” Not sure what the 10 years come from, but yes, her last season was stained due to her injury.
