“Leave me alone this summer,” said Stephen Curry to conclude his end-of-season presser. After 7-8 months of playing a sports tournament and constantly remaining in the public spotlight due to it, anyone would want to take a break from the media. To not have your private moments be broadcast for the whole world to see. Unfortunately, we live in the age of social media, where nothing remains secret for long. Therefore, if Stephen Curry wished to keep his recent trip with Ayesha a secret, he wasn’t too successful.
The BottleRock Napa Valley Musical Festival recently took place in the famous county north of San Francisco. Amongst the several stars who performed was 22-year-old musician Benson Boone. It was during his performance when a social media user was able to capture Stephen Curry and Ayesha standing at the front, vibing with the music. Well, at least Ayesha was vibing and singing along, while Steph was, as a fan account said, “recording looking like an old man”. The duo was easily distinguishable, even when Steph had donned a hat.
That wasn’t the only clue about Stephen Curry’s whereabouts that made the rounds on the internet.

A user also shared a video of the Warriors star and Ayesha posing for photographs. Someone also uploaded a video of Steph, with a drink in his hand, raising his glass slightly and saying ‘Like Gentleman’. Even when on vacation, the 4x NBA champion was promoting his ‘Gentleman’s Cut’ Bourbon.
The official Instagram account of the brand even showed a video of Steph and Ayesha at the music festival, with a few bottles of ‘Gentleman’s Cut’ placed on the table. It was a repost of a story by an IG user named Danielle Iturbe. So much for being discreet! Then again, we can’t blame the brand, since Ayesha herself reposted Danielle Iturbe’s story through her account, thereby letting her 7.9 million followers know about their location.
Well, so that plea from Stephen Curry certainly went down the drain. Along with the request, Curry had also added that “Imma take full advantage of the offseason knowing I’ve been playing a lot of basketball for the last year and lot left in the tank to prepare for”. From the looks of it, the player is enjoying his time, even if his trip wasn’t a secret. Then again, everyone enjoys having a certain moment of privacy from time to time. It is why the couple also fought hard to at least keep their home away from the gawking eyes.

Stephen Curry is not someone who gets himself involved in controversies occasionally. However, back in 2023, he did make headlines over his actions outside the basketball court. At the start of the year, The San Francisco Standard reported that Bay Area cities had to place a state-approved housing development plan for the next eight years. Aka, the Housing Element. Amongst the communities that were targeted by a proposed plan was Atherton. It is one of the wealthiest areas in the Bay Area, where Stephen Curry had brought his $30 million home back in 2020. Atherton was reportedly asked by the state to plan for 348 new homes across various income levels over the next eight years. There was also a proposed development to upzone a single-family home neighbouring Curry’s, which would include up to 16 town homes.
The Almanac‘s Angela Swartz later reported that the Currys had sent a letter on January 18th to voice their opinion AGAINST the development.
“We hesitate to add to the “not in our backyard” (literally) rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today’s meeting. Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority and one of the biggest reasons we chose Atherton as home,” wrote Steph and Ayesha in the letter. “With the density being proposed for 23 Oakwood, there are major concerns in terms of both privacy and safety with three-story townhomes looming directly behind us.”

No matter what, you wouldn’t want strangers to see inside your home while you go about your day-to-day life. If ‘Friends’ was accurate, then you know that ‘Ugly Naked Guy’ would have complained a lot. Add the fact that Steph and Ayesha are far from normal people. Steph is the star player of the Bay Area’s NBA team. One of the best veterans in the modern NBA. The attention of the media is constantly on him. Ayesha had already once revealed that she wished she had not let her eldest daughter, Riley, enter the public spotlight so quickly. Therefore, for everyone from strangers to paparazzi to get a viewpoint of the Curry home through three-storeyed residential buildings would be a clear invasion of privacy.
Privacy is a major issue that all celebrities, especially Steph and Ayesha, continue to deal with constantly. From pleading not to have the media follow them on vacation to fighting to block progress so that their family could live in peace, the Golden State Warriors star continues showing that being a celebrity is not an easy task.
