When asked about growing up idolizing Kobe Bryant and what Doncic joining the Lakers means for the league, Tatum didn’t hold back. “I’m not a little kid anymore, so I don’t really watch the Lakers play. I’m a big Celtics fan.” The subtle jab had fans buzzing, reinforcing just how deep the Boston-LA rivalry runs.
Tatum’s history with the Lakers adds an extra layer to his comments. Before being drafted by the Celtics in 2017, he dreamed of playing for the Lakers, following in Kobe’s footsteps. However, the Lakers never even brought him in for a workout, choosing Lonzo Ball instead.
