Even the players’ families are stepping in, voicing disbelief over the blown calls and the effect they’re having on crucial matchups.
The Yankees are playing the last game of their series against the Angels, and their only aim is to prevent them from sweeping it. But what unfolded during a crucial juncture of the game was not something that anyone would have expected. During a pitch thrown by Carlos Rodon, Jo Adell missed the ball and started to walk away, thinking he had completed the swing. However, the umpire was of a different opinion and ruled that the player did not swing the bat. Naturally, Adell returned to action. While this infuriated the Bronx Nation, with Aaron Boone visibly frustrated, the decision also left Rodon’s wife, Ashley, in disbelief.
Taking to her X, Ashley, seemingly trying to confirm what she just saw, wrote, “Did he go around?” As soon as users started responding that Adell actually went around, the Yankee Superstar’s wife appeared to be disappointed. “,” she commented with a picture of Adell trying to swing the bat. Interestingly, the reaction is quite justified given the kind of slump that the franchise is in.

The team has lost its past 6 games in a continuous stretch and is on a win-loss ratio of 3-7 in its last 10 games. Even top players, including Aaron Judge, have admitted difficulties despite attempting to remain hopeful. Soon after losing the 3rd game vs the Angels, Judge said, “We know what we signed up for. You’re gonna play 162, you’re gonna hit a rut like this. You can’t give up, you can’t mope about it. Just show up the next day and be ready to play.” And while the team showed up again on Thursday, it seems like they are becoming the victims of some controversial calls.
Point to note, this was not the only umpiring call that went against the Yankees in the latest game. With the Yankees trailing in the game, Bellinger attempted to make a run and was called out. Interestingly, a review was sought, and Bellinger appeared to be safe. However, the decision still remained in favor of the Angels player, infuriating the Yankee fans on social media.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Ashley Rodon has called out umpiring issues during a Yankee game and has been quite vocal in the past as well.
