A team that set out to improve on a 13-27 record from the last season currently finds itself in all sorts of trouble. The Chicago Sky are certainly not enjoying life under new head coach Tyler Marsh. With just 3 wins in their first 12 games, the playoff dream is slowly slipping away. No one saw this coming, especially when the team has two superstars in Angel Reese and Kamila Cardoso. At this rate, it’s hard not to wonder if Coach Marsh is already on borrowed time.
Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky are still searching for their first win against a team above .500. With a disappointing 1-4 home record, things haven’t looked promising. The Sky currently sits dead last in net rating at -14.1, 12th in defensive rating, and 10th in opponent points per game. In short, they’ve been one of the league’s most underperforming teams this season.
Fan patience reached its boiling point when coach Marsh decided to bench his starters with 5:10 left in the third quarter against the Phoenix Mercury. A move that made no sense to anyone. Coach Marsh explained his decision, saying that with the Sky trailing by 22 points, it was smarter to rest the starters rather than risk any injuries. But the fans? They had already made up their mind.

Fans have had it enough. Hell’s broken loose in Chicago. Many are now calling for Angel Reese to be traded so she can finally realize her potential on a better team.
Fans want Angel Reese to be traded after coach Marsh’s blunder
Fans were clearly not happy with what went down against the Phoenix Mercury. “So it’s sabotage for Angel Reese because NO WAY SHE HAS A REMARKABLE ROOKIE SEASON AND OFF SEASON AND YOU CHOOSE NOT TO GO ALL IN FOR HER DEVELOPMENT AND LEAP!! This is crazy!! Sky free Angel! Trade her since you have no use for her!!! Trade her!!!”, one fan commented.
And that frustration is completely justified. Reese had just one field goal attempt in the entire game. This comes after Reese scored 28 points and 16 assists in her last two games and looked to have finally found her rhythm. Seeing the coach’s tactics to not run plays around his star forward, another fan voiced their frustration, saying, “Angel Reese need to request a trade off that sinking ship”.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Angel Reese fans want to see their star in a better situation. And honestly, can you blame them? The Chi-Town Barbie is averaging a double-double with 11 points and a league-high 11.7 rebounds per game. Those are elite numbers. But Sky doesn’t look like a team built for postseason play.
One of the biggest blunders the Sky front office made this offseason was letting go of their top scorer, Chennedy Carter. “I don’t even care what Chennedy Carter allegedly did. Bring her back!” wrote one frustrated supporter. Carter was putting up 17.5 points per game but was let go because of her alleged attitude problems. The franchise at that point announced that they were looking to bring the best out of their two bigs. And that is where the twist comes.
The Sky went into this season hoping to see an offensive burst from Reese and Cardoso. But that hasn’t happened. Reese, whose efficiency was already a talking point last season, has seen her shooting percentage dip from 39.1% to 37.8%. Her scoring has also taken a hit – dropping from 13.6 points per game to just 11. Cardoso, on the other hand, has seen a slight improvement in her output. She went from scoring 9.8 last season to 11.5 points per game this season.
Naturally, there is a set of fans who think trading Reese would actually be beneficial for the Sky. “Chennedy is a dirty player she isn’t gonna help…what would help is if you trade angel Reese,” one fan commented. Another joined in saying, “Any player on the bench is better than angel Reese…if you want improvement trade away angel and your chemistry will improve drastically.”
It’s pretty clear that fan opinions are now split into two different groups. One group believes Angel Reese deserves better and should be traded to a more competitive team, while the other feels her presence is part of the problem in Chicago. So, which side are you on? Should the Chi-Town Barbie stay and fight it out, or look for a fresh start elsewhere? Let us know in the comments below!
