Genesis Invitational 2025: Prize Money Breakdown & Winner’s Payout

The Genesis Invitational 2025 has witnessed some major changes, be it the course or the roster of players. With the concerning wildfires in LA, the course for the event was shifted from Riviera to Torrey Pines. Even Tiger Woods, who hosts the glorious event, had earlier shared the great news of debuting his season at Torrey Pines. However, days after the announcement, he withdrew from the event, citing that he was “still processing the loss” of his mother Kultida Woods.

Despite the news, the fans will not get disheartened as the impressive roster teeing off from February 13 to 16 has some of the prominent names participating. The world no.1, Scottie Scheffler, who has been a fan favorite, will be teeing off with high hopes to find a better finish in 2025. Along with him, the AT&T Pebble Beach winner, Rory McIlroy, and Hideki Matsuyama defending champion will be at the course. Matsuyama will be vying for his 2nd title of the season after his amazing run at The Sentry.

The star-studded roster of players will be competing for a grand purse value that matches LIV offerings. The event has seen a significant increase in its purse value, ever since its debut in 1956 when the prize pot was $40,000. With years progressing, the purse saw a huge upside climb and from the 2023 edition, the purse value is set at $20 million. Along with the grand purse increase, the winner will also get a boost of 700 FedEx Cup points.

Just like last year, the winner will get a hefty share of the prize pot, which is $4 million. While the 50th-positioned player will get $52,000, which is the least.

Additionally, as mentioned before there is a great opportunity for golfers to get 700 FedExCup points apart from the money. The event for this year has changed its venue to the Torrey Pines golf course from the Riviera Country Club due to the aftermath of the LA wildfire. In light of that, the event has launched a new initiative to support the loss caused by the wildfire in Los Angeles.

Genesis Invitational wildfire relief efforts

The event has been actively contributing to help the community and till now has donated $8 million as per the post shared by Kai Trump. In addition to that, the event has started a new wildfire relief initiative named, “Birdies for Good.” Each day, there will be a new addition to the donation fund as each birdie will add up to $300.

Not only this, even the eagles recorded by the golfers will add $10,000 to the donation funds. To contribute to this great initiative, golfers, including Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala, have also joined in. As per the estimate of previously recorded birdies and eagles in the 2025 schedule. The PGA Tour has shared an estimate of $300,000 to be generated by the end of Genesis Invitational.

The great matchup of top golfers at the Torrey Pines has a huge prize pot at stake. Other than that, the great performance will also get additional rewards for the relief funds with the new initiatives. What are your thoughts on the new initiatives? Who do you think will contribute to most with birdies and eagles? Share with us in the comments section below!
