Quincy Wilson is riding a wave of high school dominance, and the rumor mill is working overtime. He’s balancing an epic high school career alongside visits to colleges in Florida, Texas A&M, Georgia, Tennessee, and more, against the option of going pro right after school graduation. “I’ve got two more years of high school, so I’m going to let it pan out,” he said back in January. And the only reason that has been keeping the A-average student from signing a pro contract was schoolwork, “and my parents are not going to let me go out there like that.” But now, as he inches closer to graduation, he might be eyeing a change. How so?
In Citius Mag’s latest podcast from June 27, Quincy Wilson sat down with U.S. Olympian, 6x NCAA champion, and Team New Balance professional Parker Valby. What rung the alarms from the chat is that the 2024 Olympic gold medalist is acing the school as much as he is acing the track. In the podcast, Valby asked Quincy, “Your junior year just ended, how are your grades? Give us a report.” Wilson’s junior year of high school at Bullis School in Maryland ran during the 2024–2025 academic year. He answered, “All A’s… 4.0. My grade average was 93.” That is when the Valby shot the hot question as she said, “I think you could probably get accepted to University of Florida with that.” How did the 17-year-old respond?
“For real..that’s crazy,” replied Quincy. The Bullis School student also talked about texting Coach Mike Holloway. Mike is the long‑time head coach of both the men’s and women’s track and field (and cross country) programs at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He has won 13 NCAA Championships with Florida. Valby further drew the chat with the 17-year-old by saying, “what’s been your best part of college visit so far besides going to Florida and seeing my big face on the wall?”
Valby, during her time at during the 2023–24 season, she swept NCAA titles in cross country and both the indoor and outdoor 5,000 m, set collegiate records in indoor 5,000 m (14:56.11, later lowered to 14:52.79), outdoor 5,000 m (14:52.18) and outdoor 10,000 m (30:50.43), won SEC Athlete of the Year honors, was named National Athlete of the Year, earned the prestigious Bowerman award. Replying tp her question, Quincy Wilson said, “Um, that was a good one. But, um, what is the best part? It’s been too many good visits. It’s too many good visits. It’s too many great schools. Every coach, honestly, like I can’t bash a school and say that it’s not a school that I haven’t liked. I’ve loved every single one of them.”
Quincy has been on college visits since 2024. He has been to many like Texas A&M, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Florida. But an important point to note here is told by Quincy himself. He said in the podcast that, “All my friends have. A lot of them have committed to Florida, so you never know.” One example could be of Jake Odey‑Jordan, who recently committed to the Gators. Parker Valby did not let go of this moment as well and said, “you’ll be the next.” Will he be? What about other visits?
Quincy Wilson is touring colleges for a while
Quincy Wilson has been making official visits to top NCAA track programs, including Texas A&M (October 5, 2024), where he immersed himself in Aggies culture and met Coach Henry, all while emphasizing that he’s “#notcommitted”. Shortly after, on October 15, he visited the University of Georgia in Bulldogs gear, and four days later toured Tennessee in Volunteers orange, again highlighting his undecided status. Man is a star; colleges want him.
In early November, Wilson toured Texas Tech, posed with their NCAA Indoor trophy, and continued to make it clear he wasn’t ready to commit. His most recent visit was on April 8, 2025, when he officially visited the University of Florida, sporting Gators’ colors and posting “Go Gators? #notcommitted #officialvisit”
He also posed with their NCAA trophy, and with his friend there, the chances are higher. But there is no official confirmation from the champion himself. While Florida seems attractive, only time will tell what Quincy will opt for. Where do you think he would land? Share your thoughts.
