Over the past few weeks, the LA protests have dominated headlines, sparking both information and misinformation. MLB hasn’t remained untouched, with several teams being scrutinized for their positions, whether stated or silent. If you remember, the Dodgers, in particular, found themselves at the heart of a media storm. Now, just as the dust begins to settle, a new viral claim is threatening to pull another iconic franchise into the spotlight: the New York Yankees.
Until now, the Yankees have stayed away from the controversy, even though the protest has now entered New York. But the viral claim that the Yankees’ stadium is offering free hot dogs to ICE Agents is enough to take the controversy to the next level. Moreover, the post has already garnered more than 2.9 million views!
The viral post shared a photo of a counter serving hot dogs with a caption: “Yankees stadium offering free hot dogs to ICE Agents. A small gesture from New York, served with mustard.”

The post was shared by an X handle named Talkin Basabell. Ah, wait, you might have missed the point here. Read the name of the X handle again. Yeah, we’re not blaming you, but it sounds like a verified media outlet that talks about baseball. While the original handle shares periodic updates about baseball, this one is a parody account and is known for fabricated and satirical posts.
Thus, in short, the claim about the Yankees that got millions of views is fabricated, and there is no official evidence behind it. The objective of the post seems to be generating views and funny reactions from the users. But it is risky to take a satirical view on a sensitive issue like the immigration protest. Also, with the name having an uncanny resemblance to a verified handle, things were amplified. Well, there are several athletes and teams who were actually vocal about the protest.
Enrique Hernandez has emerged as one of the most vocal representatives from MLB in the wake of LA’s immigration protests. For starters, in mid‑June, amid escalating federal ICE raids across Los Angeles, Hernandez broke his silence. “I am saddened and infuriated by what’s happening in our country and our city. Los Angeles and Dodger fans have welcomed me, supported me, and shown me nothing but kindness and love,” he shared over his Instagram.
So, while these are the verified claims, the viral claim about the Yankees is fabricated and unsupported. As Yankees seemed to be learning from another MLB team regarding the growing protests and pressing questions.
The Yankees were going the Dodgers’ way
Dodgers’ way? Yeah, the controversy generated at Dodger Stadium a few weeks ago is something the Yankees may have noted to avoid controversy. In what was expected to be a routine pregame moment during the Dodgers-Giants game, pop sensation Nezza delivered something bold. For the uninitiated, instead of the traditional English version, Nezza chose to sing the official Spanish translation of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.’ As expected, the moment instantly sparked an intense wave of both admiration and backlash.
Soon after the incident, the Dodgers found themselves under heightened scrutiny. Questions were raised, asking the franchise to share its stance. Well, eventually, the Dodgers pledged $1 million toward supporting immigrant families affected by recent raids. They also began working with local community outreach programs.

Furthermore, Angel City FC from NWSL also shared their stance on the protest. During a recent home game, thousands of black T-shirts emblazoned with Immigrant City Football Club on the front. And Los Angeles is for Everyone / Los Angeles es para todos on the back were distributed.
Hence, each one is coming up with its stance. However, they are all coming from the official sources. Now, for something coming from a parody account like the claim about the Yankees, it’s always best to accept it with a pinch of salt.
