Justin Marks had always been clear about his partnership with Pitbull. When rumors spread in 2024 about the rapper leaving Trackhouse Racing, Marks was quick to shut them down. He called out unreliable media sources for spreading false claims and assured fans that Pitbull was staying. “Every single element to the stories of my friend and partner @pitbull leaving Trackhouse are materially untrue,” Marks stated on X.
However, months after Marks’s statement, reality took an unexpected turn. Ahead of the 67th running of the Daytona 500, Rapper turned NASCAR team owner Pitbull made an announcement that caught the entire industry off guard.
What went wrong for Pitbull?
Just hours before NASCAR’s biggest race of the year, Pitbull delivered news that no one saw coming. The Grammy-winning artist, who had been a co-owner of Trackhouse Racing since 2021, officially cut ties with the organization. While fans were preparing for his pre-race concert at Daytona International Speedway, the American Raper announced his decision on social media.
“Ending partnership with Trackhouse Racing. Over the past five years, we’ve made history by introducing NASCAR to a whole new audience and falling in love with NASCAR fans at the same time. We have made the decision to terminate the partnership with Trackhouse Racing, effective immediately. We’re looking forward to performing on the sport’s biggest stage this Sunday, the Daytona 500. It is a true honor, Dale!” Pitbull wrote on X.
While he didn’t provide further details about the split, he clarified that he was moving on. Notably, Pitbull joined Trackhouse Racing as a co-investor in 2021, helping the team establish itself in the NASCAR Cup Series. His involvement brought mainstream attention to the sport, attracting a new audience to NASCAR. Fans were excited to see a music superstar bring energy and diversity to the racing world.

The team which started with two drivers, Daniel Suárez, and Ross Chastain, saw a lot of success in Pitbull’s leadership. He, along with Justin Marks, signed New Zealand driver Shane van Gisbergen to extend their team. However, in early 2024, there were indications that Pitbull might part ways with the team. Signs of changes surfaced when the team partnered with Avenue Sports Fund.
This move raised speculation about the changes in the roles of stakeholders as details of the deal were not revealed. Marks quickly dismissed the rumors, but something was shifting behind the scenes. Now, with Pitbull’s departure official, questions remain about how Trackhouse Racing will move forward without one of its biggest names.
This is a developing story.
