Francis Ngannou is considering a return to the boxing ring, and this time he wants to face one of combat sports history’s hardest hitters, Deontay Wilder. Despite signing with the PFL nearly two years ago, ‘The Predator’ has spent more time in the boxing ring than in MMA, and he is now determined to continue proving himself against top opposition. Ngannou feels his power can match Wilder’s, and he’s anxious to put that idea to the test inside the squared circle. However, it seems like Daniel Cormier is not a big fan of the plan.
Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier has offered a severe warning to ‘The Predator’ before going one-on-one against Wilder. Cormier revealed on his YouTube channel that he believes that the legendary boxer is the most dangerous fighter Ngannou could face. But why? Well, because he is actually very hard to predict. ‘DC’ said, “I always said, and I will never change this, I thought that the safest fight was Anthony Joshua because he can be a bit hesitant at times. And I thought the most dangerous fight for Francis was Deontay Wilder.”
Daniel Cormier stated that Wilder’s unorthodox and aggressive fighting style makes him unpredictable and dangerous. “He may throw them from odd angles, but he has this unbelievable power that allows you to go to sleep.”
While Francis Ngannou has previously shocked the world with his performance against Tyson Fury, stepping into the ring with Deontay Wilder could present a completely distinct challenge. It is worth noting that reports of a bout between Ngannou and Wilder have been around for years, with both fighters hyping the matchup on several occasions.
Now, Ngannou appears determined to make it happen, saying, “I will do boxing next. I want to. I’m not done with boxing… I know I hit harder.” The contest also has the support of Turki Alalshikh, a key figure in organizing massive combat sports events in Saudi Arabia. According to Ngannou, Alalshikh has promised him a super fight this year, with Wilder or Jon Jones as possible opponents. So, what are the updates on the Jon Jones fight? Can he defeat the reigning heavyweight champion? Stipe Miocic believes so.
Stipe Miocic believes Francis Ngannou has a good chance against Jon Jones
Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou is one of the most fascinating what-ifs in MMA history. Since Jones moved up to heavyweight in 2020, fans have talked about a potential fight with the division’s most deadly knockout artist. Ngannou frequently called out ‘Bones,’ but the bout never came to fruition. Dana White claimed that neither guy actually wanted the fight, while other stories suggested that both were holding out for large payoffs. With ‘The Predator’ finally quitting the UFC, contract disagreements and commercial talks overshadowed the dream matchup.
But now with the talks about him facing Jon Jones being on the news again, Stipe Miocic, one of the few fighters to have shared the cage with both, has now spoken on how the bout could turn out. “Well, Francis, yeah, you know, he’s got great power. He’s getting better every fight. With Jones, you know, he’s good as one of the best of all time, if not the best of all time,” Miocic told The Schmo. “He’s [Jones] smart, real tricky, but Francis, he always comes with a good game plan, but also he’s got thunder in his fist.”
Miocic, a former two-time heavyweight champion and often called the heavyweight GOAT by many, sees decisive qualities in both fighters. He feels Jon Jones’ excellent fighting IQ and ability to control distance will allow him to direct much of the action. However, Ngannou’s freakish power is a continuous menace. A single clean shot from ‘The Predator’ may finish the fight in an instant. ‘Stone Cold’ agreed that if the fight had happened, it would have been difficult to determine a clear winner. So, what do you think? Who will win the fight? Let us know in the comments.
