Predictions: Can the Valkyries snap out of their losing streak against the Wings?
The last time these two teams faced each other, it was a Paige Bueckers classic. Her 20 points ensured the Wings would go on to win their second game of the season, 80-71. A lot has happened since then. The Valkyries have a 10-12 record heading into this game, while the Wings have a 7-17 record.
But the current form favors Dallas ever so slightly. Arike Ogunbowale has found her form in the last game, scoring 20 points, and with DiJonai Carrington back, their defense also looks a bit better. To make matters worse for Golden State, their best player, Kayla Thornton, is out with a lower leg injury, as confirmed by the team.

But ESPN has Golden State as slight favorites with a 51.4% chance to win this one, and a lot of that comes down to home-court advantage. The Chase Center has been a fortress for Coach Nakase’s side, thanks to the ever-energetic and passionate fans present in the Crown of Ballhalla. The Valkyries hold a solid 7-4 record at home, while the Wings have struggled on the road with just 3 wins in 13 tries.
Both teams bring something different to the table. Offensively, Dallas has the edge, putting up 82 points per game compared to the Valkyries’ 79.1. But on the defensive end, it’s a whole different ball game. The Valkyries boast one of the best defenses in the league, allowing just 78 points a night. The Wings, on the other hand, have one of the worst defenses in the league, giving up 85.8 points per game.
But with Golden State missing their top scorer and leading rebounder, this match feels like one for them to lose. And if we had to call it, we’re backing the Wings to come away with the win in this one! Who do you think will win this game? Let us know in the comments down below!
