Losing 3-Year-Old Sister to Cancer, UCLA Gymnastics Star Makes Honest Career Confession

Finding love in a sport like gymnastics usually comes at an early age. There are plenty of examples to support this fact. See the Olympian and UCLA gymnastics star, Jordan Chiles. She found her knack in the sport at age 6 years. The same fact applies to one of her teammates in the Bruins. The teammate started gymnastics, keeping it at the top of her focus. But as life has some extraordinary way of changing the game, the teammate found things crumbling in front of her eyes.

Emily Lee was 12 years old when she saw her little sister suffering from a boon named leukemia. At that age, she didn’t have ample idea of the disease. But she certainly considered leukemia to be the sole reason for snatching her 3-year-old sister from her. She felt hapless in front of the situation. The limitations of early age overpowered her, capturing her in a certain circle. But Emily made up her mind in those gloomy days.

Elle Dunderdale’s article on Emily Lee claimed that the sight of losing her younger sister to an almost incurable disease made the budding gymnast desperate. She made a call on her future profession and it wasn’t about gymnastics. In the article, Emily narrated the situation: “The biggest moment of wanting to enter the medical field was when I lost my sister to cancer really young.”

Really proud of my first feature with @DBSports ! Be sure to give it a read and learn more about Emily Lee of @uclagymnastics https://t.co/xcd1z8I5cF
