Aaron Boone Slowly Fades Away As Pinstripes Make Decision on Next Yankees Manager

The Yankees just can’t seem to crack the code this season. For a team with 27 World Series titles in the trophy case, they came in chasing the same dream — but reality’s been far less glamorous. Instead of racking up wins, the franchise is in third place for the AL East with a 64-57 record (a .529 win percentage), and fans are starting to sweat. The struggles keep snowballing, and right in the middle of the storm? Manager Aaron Boone, catching heat from all directions as the pressure keeps building.

Boone has maintained that a turnaround is around the corner for the Yankees. He has remained positive in the press conferences, assuring the fans that the team is capable of bringing about the desired results. However, the team has performed otherwise. The Yankees have won only one series ever since the All-Star break, that too against the already struggling Twins. While it was expected of them to sweep Minnesota, they ended up losing the last game, irking the entire fanbase. Besides, they have slipped from 1st spot, sitting behind the Blue Jays and the Red Sox. This gives all the more reason for the fans to demand a change, and they decided to ask for Boone to be replaced. A single name has been shining bright through all this — but who is it?

Well, it’s none other than Jorge Posada!

Posada has given 16 years of his life to the New York Yankees. Also, he has established himself as one of the legends of the sport, winning 5 Silver Slugger Awards, qualifying for the All-Star Game 5 times, and being a part of the World Series-winning team 4 times. The demand, then, cannot be ignored.

Making this wish, an X user took to their account and posted, “Jorge Posada was always meant to be the manager of the New York Yankees… 2026 ,” signifying the team should make the tough call before the next season. Soon, an influx of users expressed their feelings regarding the same. So, what do they demand? Let’s find out.

Yankees fans demand a quick change.

Taking to X, one user wrote, “Posada could win with less, I bet,” hinting towards how Boone has failed to bring a change despite the glamorous team he has at hand. And rightfully so, the Yankees boast a star-studded franchise, including MVP candidate Aaron Judge, sensational pitcher Max Fried, the experience of veterans like Paul Goldschmidt, and the energy of youngsters like Cam Schlittler and Jason Dominguez. However, the franchise is struggling quite a lot, and the recent slump is evidence. More people joined the fray, criticising the team and supporting the call.

Responding to the post, another user wrote, “Is he managing anywhere now? If not, bye bye Boone, followed by hello Boone, you look different?” Interestingly, Posada has clarified that he never considered ‘managing or owning a baseball team like his buddy Derek Jeter,” per a report by The Athletic in 2019. However, with the Yankees’ slump not seeming to end and the fans demanding a change, the New York legend might start to consider a role shift.

One more user joined the fray of similar demands and added, “I’d like to see it, provided Cashman is gone. Posada took some shots at them last weekend, as did Randolph and Nettles.” For the unversed, Posada was asked about the Yankees’ current situation when he appeared at the Old Timers’ Day game, and he minced no words. Taking a sharp jibe, Posada said, “It‘s just more of an attitude than anything. They gotta get a little angry. They need to have a chip on their shoulder. You can’t be friends with everybody.” It wasn’t bitterness; it was worry. More so, it was the straight talk of a catcher who once stared down Pedro Martínez without blinking. Meanwhile, the demands continued.

Hell yeah, should be taking over right now,” wrote another fan. Another fan joined the fray and wrote, “Catchers make the best managers IMO,” a role that Posada possessed. Understandable sentiments, as the Yankees are facing serious concerns even over qualifying for the playoffs. In fact, per a report by the NY Times, the Yankees’ chances to enter the playoffs stand at 80.7%, down from a whopping 97.2% in May. So yes, the demand is quite justified.

Will Yankees ownership consider the demand? Only time will tell. But fans are down for a big move.
