All’s not well with the New York Yankees’ All-Star Aaron Judge. Firstly, the Yankees’ captain hasn’t won a World Series yet, and now it seems like he will be facing the same fate as the Angels’ Mike Trout, who hasn’t had enough support by his side. And that’s a reason why Judge’s legitimacy as a legend is also being questioned nowadays. Seems fair?
Well, not likely, given the impressive 2024 season he had, where he had a .322 batting average, and he posted 58 home runs as well, while winning the MVP and Silver Slugger awards too. And numbers cannot lie, can they? While the stats only speak volumes of his performance and ability, Judge getting warned for the team not living up to the expectations is something more serious to talk about. So, will he bear the same fate?
That’s not a probability, maybe; however, it’s been quite a long time since the Yankees haven’t won a World Series, and it’s evident that the captain will be questioned from time to time. However, it’s also true that Judge never received adequate support from the players, just like Mike Trout, who didn’t have enough support when he was in his prime. So, is that the only way Aaron Judge can achieve legend status? Well, former baseball third baseman Todd Frazier agrees, believing that Judge has done almost everything right. “He is a stud, man, and I don’t know what else he needs to do in the regular season. Besides, put up 40-50+ home runs each year. A world series would be huge,” is what he said on the March 9 Foul Territory podcast.

Echoing a similar statement, MLB insider Scott Braun states that he does not put the same faith in every player. However, Mike Trout is an exception; he faced a similar situation. As stated by Braun, “Mike Trout, when he had his glory days, didn’t have the supporting cast at all. It’s not like Judge had the perfect supporting cast for all these years, but I do feel like he’s gonna feel it more than some others just based on the uniform.” So, it’s true that without Judge, half of the roster may not even reach the playoffs. That tells of his ability to lead and manage a team, doesn’t it?
But the New York Yankees’ lineup has also been marred by multiple injuries of players like Giancarlo Stanton., Luis Gil, and DJ LeMahieu. That’s also a big reason behind Judge not getting the support he needed to make it to the playoffs and win the World Series title. But problems don’t seem to end for him! Recently, Judge was overlooked for a Royals’ star who made it to the top of the 2025 AL MVP Favorites list.
Yankees’ Judge has been ignored for a Royals’ star
Despite the Yankees’ captain Aaron Judge’s athletic prowess, fans have suffered a big heartbreak, given that their favorite player hasn’t made it to the number one spot in the MVP Favorites list for 2025. So who made it to the top? It’s the Kansas City Royals’ star shortstop, Bobby Witt Jr., who achieved his career-highest mark of 211 hits in 2024, which is the highest since Derek Jeter’s 216 hits in 2021. In his 20 games, Witt Jr. managed at least three hits, which was just one short of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s record. However, given the stellar record of Judge in 2024, not making it to the top of the list has made fans angry and frustrated. Sounds legit?
Definitely! Aaron Judge won two out of the last three MVPs, and he is right behind the Dodgers’ superstar, Shohei Ohtani, who achieved his third. Judge is even a six-time All-Star and has the record for more home runs in the American League, which is 62 home runs, that too in a single season. While there’s no denying that Judge is a class player, it’s worth mentioning that Bobby Witt Jr. has been the first shortstop to achieve a 30-30 season, completing his 2024 season with 32 home runs and 31 stolen bases—quite impressive!
