Aaron Rodgers Predicted to Join NFC Team That Already Rejected Him Amid Strong Steelers Rumors

Alright, buckle up, folks, because this NFL rumor mill has just been blown out of proportion. Minnesota Vikings, who basically said to Aaron Rodgers, “Thanks, but no thanks”, recently, are still being whispered about as a potential landing spot for the first-time free agent. Yep, you heard that right. It’s like your ex knocking on your doorstep with a bouquet a day after breaking up with you. Sounds a bit crazy, right? Well, it’s going to be pure chaos if Dianna Russini’s prediction does come true. So, let’s dive into this Rodgers to Vikings saga yet again hours after this case was supposed to be closed.

Here’s the thing: Dianna Russini was having a back-and-forth moment with Dan Patrick on his show about Aaron Rodgers’ future. Then, Patrick starts to press Russini into making a wild guess about what she thinks can still happen with Rodgers. Patrick even set the stage for her educated guess by saying to his viewers, “This is not a report by Dianna Russini. This is not a report.”

So, once Russini saw that, she might not be bashed online for sending possible false reports. She finally made her guess, “I think Aaron Rodgers is going to be a Minnesota Viking.” Well, well, well, look at that. Either Russini will have the last laugh if the Vikings do change their stance on Rodgers. Or Russini’s bold guess could look way too silly. Yep, it might not demean her credibility as an NFL insider because it’s not a report, just a journalist’s guess. Still, Russini’s guess carries some weight, you know.

Yes, Tom Pelissero’s report that the Vikings are not pursuing Rodgers paints a different picture. But if you look closely, the Vikings only have two QBs (JJ McCarthy and Brett Rypien) on their roster. Surely, they aren’t willing to keep it that way once the new season arrives. Hell, two QBs aren’t even enough to distribute the reps in OTAs.

So, this Rodgers to Vikings saga is not even remotely close to being over. And let’s not forget the elephant in the room. Brett Favre didn’t even sign with the Vikings until August 18th.

This means the Vikings will have ample time to see whether McCarthy is really a starter in year 2. If not, they can surely revisit Rodgers if he still remains a free agent that late into the offseason. Anything could happen, but right now, everything is just a rumor through connecting the dots. As for Rodgers, it’s still not like he is devoid of offers. If not, the purple and gold. Rodgers still has a black and gold jersey waiting in the wings.

Is Pittsburgh Steelers going to be the new home for Aaron Rodgers?

Casting aside, the Vikings who are kind of playing with the idea of adding the 4-time NFL MVP. Rodgers is getting enough attention from the Steelers. At 41, the Steelers still believe Rodgers can be a perfect solution to their broken QB room. I mean, this was the same Steelers who had two worthy starters at one point.

There were constant debates about whether it would be Russell Wilson or Justin Fields come 2025. But now, the tides have changed like a Saquon Barkley 360° spin. Currently, the Steelers only have Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson in their QB room. And honestly, neither of them is a starter in the league.

Until Tomlin wants to break his winning season record. He can go ahead and make Rudolph or Thompson a starter, albeit inviting more pressure to his job. Maybe that’s the scenario he doesn’t want right now. That’s why ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes the Steelers still have a standing offer ready for Rodgers. However, like the last few weeks, there has been no urgency from Rodgers’ camp. He has remained content to wait for the Vikings or even retire if his wish isn’t guaranteed.

So, there are two possible options right now for the Steelers. Call back Russell Wilson from his round trips to Cleveland and New York. Or take that risk and wait for Rodgers. The latter does come with its fair share of risk. But that’s the gamble the Steelers will have to take for not addressing their QB room while there was still time.
