Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers’s coaches had a six-hour long chat. They promised each other to be in touch. In fact, the franchise expressed they are “fine” waiting for the veteran QB. But just as we were thinking that the four-time MVP would land into the Steel City anytime soon, a new twist has made the situation complex.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are not expected to attend Day 1 in Green Bay. But their peer, QB Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, is! The 22-year-old was seen as a second-round pick, but as per NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler, “Alabama QB Jalen Milroe has accepted an invitation to attend the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay.”
This means it’s quite possible that Milroe will attend Day 1 of the draft this month. It is a big decision because he is projected to go in the 2nd round, and the NFL doesn’t call 2nd rounders on the 1st day to avoid any embarrassment. However, Milroe’s decision means he is very hopeful of a first-round draft pick, and the Steelers are best positioned to pick him with the 21st pick, resulting in Aaron Rodgers’ falling hopes.
“I think Jalen Milroe is very live for this pick at 21 overall.”

According to Ross Tucker Podcast’s host, John Daigle, “I think Jalen Milroe, Alabama quarterback, is also very live for this pick at number 21 overall. And you don’t see his name at all in the first round of mock drafts. The Steelers have obviously done a lot of work on quarterbacks because there is just no way the end of the season.”
Stating the reason, the analyst pointed out that the Steelers just gave DK Metcalf $150 million. And then? They had Mason Rudolph throwing him the ball in Week 1. Yeah… that’s not going to cut it. So now, all signs point to one thing: they’re going for a quarterback in the first round. As 41 YO Aaron Rodgers is still unsure about his stint with the franchise, they might be moving on from him.
Besides Jalen Milroe, the name that keeps floating around is Jaxson Dart. He’s getting the strongest first-round buzz right now. But the twist is that Mike Tomlin already had dinner with Jalen Milroe. This also reminds us of the Steelers’ decision for Justin Fields. They were into him too when he entered the draft. So maybe Tomlin’s got a type-mobile QBs who can make plays on the move. If that’s the case, Milroe actually makes even more sense than Dart.
The reason is definitely his records, which even has the power to suppress Aaron Rodgers’s hopes for the Steelers.
Fans want Mike Tomlin to pick Jalen Milroe over Aaron Rodgers and others?
The Steelers have already signed Mason Rudolph. They can now go with him for the starting role, leaving Aaron Rodgers thinking about his own decision. One of the major reasons they might be supporting Milroe’s selection over others is that the young QB has surpassed Super Bowl champ Jalen Hurts for a record.
According to a fan on Reddit, “Jalen Milroe now has 74 career TDs (44 pass, 30 rush), passing Jalen Hurts 71 (48 pass, 23 rush) for the fourth-most in school history.” He is only behind Tua Tagovailoa – 96 (87 pass, 9 rush). Also, Bryce Young – 87 (80 pass, 7 rush); and AJ McCarron – 80 (77 pass, 3 rush). All these possibilities have compelled fans to talk in favor of the Alabama QB.
For instance, some fans immediately speculated “Steelers,” or “He a Steeler, isn’t he?” for Jalen Milroe. While others straightaway called him, “STEELER,” expressing their excitement for the young QB to potentially join the Steel City. However, “Steelers are so ready to break the internet” comment surely highlights the importance of Mike Tomlin’s decision on Milroe. So, as an X user put it in an assured way, it indeed “Sounds like he’s going in round 1.”
It’s pretty clear, too, that the Steelers are looking to select a quarterback at pick 21. So, of course, who could be better than Jalen Milroe? A player who promises a potentially great future for the team he is drafted by. On the other hand, for Aaron Rodgers, he might be out of the context soon. It’s because the team already has a veteran QB, a backup, and a potential Milroe (if this pick happens)! What do you think?
