Aaron Rodgers to ‘Wait’ Entire Off-Season Only to Avoid Joining Brian Daboll’s Giants as Per ESPN Reporter

Let’s call it what it is—Aaron Rodgers is playing the long game. Or he is being touted to… To become the Dalai Lama of the NFL. Not something you hear that often when talking about Rodgers. But whatever your issue with Rodgers might be, you’d agree that AR is calm (despite that name for a gunslinger).

The man is in no hurry, and why would he be? He’s got all offseason to sit back, relax, and see if the perfect situation magically falls into his lap. But if the latest reports are any indication, there’s one place he’s definitely not interested in—Brian Daboll’s New York Giants.

Adam Schefter laid it out plain and simple. Rodgers had a dream scenario—Los Angeles. “Aaron Rodgers—the perfect one would have been in L.A. if Matthew Stafford agreed to a trade with the Raiders or the Giants,” Schefter said. Rodgers has a house in Malibu, he respects Sean McVay, and let’s be honest, L.A. fits his vibe better than any other city.

But with Stafford staying put, that door slammed shut. Now, Rodgers’ options are shrinking faster than a lead against Patrick Mahomes in the fourth quarter. So what’s left? Pittsburgh? Not happening.

Steelers fans might already cringe at the thought of swapping a 36-year-old Russell Wilson for a 41-year-old Rodgers. It’s just not how they want Mike Tomlin to operate right now.

Rodgers in Indy? Nope. Cleveland? Not a chance. Tennessee? Why would he? That leaves the Giants—the one place that actually makes sense on paper. But if Rodgers is avoiding it like a bad contract extension, what does that say?

Schefter suggested Rodgers may be banking on a quarterback catastrophe somewhere else. “Maybe Aaron Rodgers is going to say, ‘Well, that’s not bad, but maybe I’m better off waiting,’” the ESPN reporter said.

Maybe an injury, maybe some off-the-field chaos, maybe a front office deciding their current guy isn’t the answer. We’ve seen it before. May, June, July—something unexpected happens, and suddenly, a team is desperate for a veteran QB. Schefter said: “That might be Aaron Rodgers’ best play for the upcoming season.”

Well, at the end of the day, this is also Adam’s perspective. Not that Rodgers has talked about it. So, is that the best play for him? That’s for you to decide until anything official and confirmed. Maybe he might be on his way to Sin City, after all.

Raiders’ own wants the Aaron Rodgers’ last dance in Sin City

The Raiders are back on the quarterback hunt, and this time, they might be rolling the dice a little harder. Last season’s Minshew-O’Connell experiment? Yeah, that didn’t exactly hit the jackpot. With free agency looming and the No. 6 pick in their pocket, Vegas has options. But Maxx Crosby has his own pick in mind—and it’s a wild one.

On his podcast, Crosby made it clear: he wants Aaron Rodgers under center. Yep, the same Rodgers who had a forgetful couple of years with the Gang Green. “All the doubt, all the negativity around Aaron Rodgers… I think he’s going to have a big year this year, and I hope it’s in our town.” Bold words. But is Vegas ready to go all-in on a 41-year-old QB?

Rodgers’ 2024 campaign wasn’t pretty. He stayed healthy, sure, but that Jets season was the football equivalent of a busted parlay. Career-worst 12 losses, a shaky 6.7 yards per attempt, and a 90.5 passer rating. But let’s not forget—he still threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns. Even at 40, that’s not exactly washed-up territory. And Crosby? He’s betting on a comeback.

Of course, it’s not just about what Crosby wants. New head coach Pete Carroll made it crystal clear at the Scouting Combine: he’s not here for a rebuild. “I don’t care about last year one bit. I’m trying to take this as far as we can as soon as I possibly can.” Translation? The Raiders are looking for a QB who can win right now. So does Rodgers fit that mold?

Vegas could take a swing in the draft, or maybe target a younger free agent. But there’s a reason Rodgers is even in the conversation—he’s still got the arm, the experience, and, let’s be honest, the flair for drama. And if there’s any city that loves a high-stakes gamble, it’s Vegas.

So, is this just Crosby talking, or could the Raiders actually pull the trigger? That remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: the Silver and Black aren’t settling for mediocrity. And if Rodgers wants one last shot at glory, Sin City might just be the perfect stage.
