“Absolute F*ckery”: Jordan Spieth Becomes a Laughing Stock Among Fans as Injury Recovery Wrecks His Form

Jordan Spieth just can’t catch a break, can he? One minute, he’s reminding us why he’s a three-time major champ, and the next, he’s spiraling into chaos—this time, even launching his club in frustration (accidentally, of course).

Coming into the Valspar Championship, Spieth was looking to shake off a rough stretch. His return from wrist surgery has been anything but smooth—starting with a T69 finish to start the season, then a glimmer of hope at the WM Phoenix Open (T4), only to miss the cut at Genesis. He clawed back with a T9 at the Cognizant Classic but then slid down to 59th at The Players. Yeah… it’s been a ride.

And his first round at Valspar? Well, that was just another chapter in this unpredictable saga. Spieth actually started strong—a beautiful eagle on the par-5 1st hole had fans thinking, okay, maybe today’s the day. But in classic Spieth fashion, chaos soon followed. Bogeys on 2, 3, and 4 completely wiped out that early advantage, and despite picking up a birdie on 6, he made the turn at 37 (+1)—not exactly ideal.

The back nine wasn’t much better. Bogeys on 10 and 13 pushed him further into trouble, and though he managed to hang on with pars, he couldn’t find the spark to climb back up. A birdie on 18 gave him something to walk away with, but in the end, a 74 (+3) leaves him lurking lower on the leaderboard. And, as expected, golf fans have plenty to say about it.

Fans are done with Jordan Spieth’s on-course inconsistency

At this point, watching Jordan Spieth play golf is like scrolling through a group chat—one moment it’s all good vibes, the next it’s absolute chaos, and you have no idea what’s coming next. One moment, he’s pulling off magic; the next, he’s spiraling into chaos. And honestly? Fans are tired.

One fan summed it up best: “The Jordan Spieth Experience may be overused but probably for good reason. Absolute fu*kery anytime he’s on the course.” Another chimed in, “Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are so damn annoying.” Ouch. But to be fair, both Spieth and Thomas have been stuck in a winless drought since 2022, desperately trying to claw their way back into the winner’s circle. At least Spieth has the wrist surgery excuse—Thomas? Not so much.

Another frustrated fan vented, “Doesn’t the novelty start to wear off when this is literally just how he plays every round? I’ve seen one billion of these tweets.” The lack of surprise was visible in another fan’s comment too as they sarcastically wrote, “classic spieth.” Another user sarcastically asked, “Wrist injury not healed?”

For the unversed, Spieth has been dealing with wrist issues since 2018, and last year, things finally hit rock bottom. After years of dislocations—20 times in 2024 alone!—he had surgery in August, spending eight weeks in a cast. He even jammed it again at Pebble Beach. Speaking about his struggles, Spieth admitted back in February, “When it’s not moving well, I’ve got a lot of lean and a lot of left-hand involved, and if it’s not leaning, it’s going to go pretty far off line.”

Translation? The wrist is still a work in progress, and so is his game. And while we all want to believe Spieth can find his groove again, the inconsistency is making it tough to keep the faith. As we inch closer to the Masters, the big question remains—can he pull it together in time, or is this rollercoaster ride just part of the new normal?
