Accused of Prank-Calling Shedeur Sanders, Falcons Coach’s Son Takes Drastic Decision

The biggest story to come out of the 2025 NFL draft was Shedeur Sanders not being picked in the first round. Sanders, who was supposed to land somewhere within the top 32 picks, waited and waited for his call. But day 1 of the draft ended without his name being called. Then, on Friday night, Sanders was again waiting with a smile on his face as teams continued passing on him. He remained hopeful, and when his phone finally rang before the Saints were on the clock with their 40th pick, Shedeur thought his wait was finally over. However, little did he know the call was instead a prank apparently pulled by a Falcons coach’s son.

Seeing his phone ring, which he had especially bought for the NFL draft, Shedeur went outside as cameras followed him to capture his life-changing moment. He picked up the phone, and the caller was heard saying, “This is Mickey Loomis here, (general manager) of the Saints. It’s been a long wait, man. We’re gonna take you with our next pick right here, man.” Sanders, who was visibly exhausted from the shocking draft slide, replied, “Yes, sir, let’s be legendary.”

That’s when the prank caller changed his tone and piled more misery on Shedeur’s pain, “But you’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer, man. Sorry about that.” After saying those words, they hung up, while Sanders looked confused. It was supposed to be his viral moment, but painfully, it wasn’t. Sanders also later said, “Nobody has that number but coaches, strictly for that reason.” The number was attached to an email thread sent to GMs and coaches. So, when Shiloh, Sanders’ older brother, asked, “So the NFL leaked it basically?”

Shedeur refuted those claims, saying, “It could be one of their kids that saw the email and just took the number.” Since then, a viral video revealed the faces of those prank callers. And rumor “has it that Jax Ulbrich, son of Falcons DC Jeff Ulbrich, was behind the Shedeur Sanders prank call.” Although it wasn’t he who made the call, a teenager matching Jax’s identity was sitting beside the prank caller. Maybe it could be him, as Jax also deleted his IG account soon after the video came out.

Sanders later went on to say it “was a childish act.” While Browns HC Kevin Stefanski who went to draft Shedeur in the fifth round with their 144th pick said, “People are morons. It’s sad.” However, the thing is, Jax isn’t the first one linked as a possible culprit behind the prank. Internet investigators also caught Giants GM Joe Schoen’s daughter involved in the matter.

Joe Schoen’s daughter linked to Shedeur Sanders’ prank call

Soon after the prank call ended, Shedeur Sanders showed maturity beyond his years. “The thing is, why get mad? Because they want you to have a certain type of reaction to it. They want you to feel bad. But I ain’t tripping,” Sanders said. Moments later, when the Saints finally announced their 40th pick and it wasn’t Shedeur Sanders, Deion reacted with a “Wow” while shaking his head. His son, who was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, led the FBS in pass completion rate, and had his No.2 jersey, retired in Colorado, was getting passed on like a pillow.

Deion also later added, “I know what’s going on. This is to the point now where it’s like Hey, man, y’all gotta stop.” Seeing the pain the Sanders were going through, their supporters couldn’t stay quiet. They started digging into who made the prank call, which rubbed salt into Sanders’ wounds. And just like that, they found that Schoen’s daughter, Sydney, was liking comments linking her to the prank. Although there wasn’t any hard proof, the one who made the call was wearing an Ole Miss jersey.

And Schoen’s daughter apparently goes to Ole Miss. So, that’s how the internet investigators linked Sydney to the Sanders prank as a culprit. Obviously, Shedeur handled the situation like a man. He didn’t react, nor did he allow it to impact his confidence. He waited and waited until the Browns called his name. Now, Shedeur is off to Cleveland in a mission to prove his critics wrong. And once he does, the praises should be as loud as his criticism was. Legendary!!
