Surging middleweight powerhouse Caio Borralho is running on a seven-fight winning streak in UFC and is definitely on Cloud 9 right now. The Fighting Nerds kingpin, is looking for his next prey who he can destroy inside the octagon, and guess who he called out? It was none other than Australian Middleweight star Robert Whittaker. ‘The Reaper’ has been a mainstay in the middleweight division for a long time and the former 185-pound champion has beaten amazing fighters like Jared Cannonier, Marvin Vettori, and Paulo Costa among others.
However, his last outing saw him having a first-round submission loss to Khamzat Chimaev. Nevertheless, this did not stop the Aussie star from thinking about the future where he would like to have a showdown against Sean Strickland. He said, “I’m excited by that fight. I look at his style and I find it curious. I find it exciting to try to work out.”
But a new player has come in between and Borralho thinks that it is time that he fights someone in the top five middleweight rankings, so naturally he called out #5 Whittaker. In the latest post on his X account, Borralho said what he feels about the turbulent state of the middleweight division right now. With hopes of shaking things up a bit, he posted, “Hey @robwhittakermma, stop calling guys ahead of you in the rankings after u lose a fight bro! Let’s fight UFC 317 on June 29 on International Fight Week! What do you think? What do you all fans think?”

In fact, this is not the first time that ‘Borz’s’ former training partner, showed his doubts about the 27-8-0 fighter. During a conversation with Submission Radio before UFC 308 he stated that the Chechen Wolf would dominate Whittaker. He explained, “I think Khamzat is going to like dominate him in the wrestling, on the ground.”
As soon as the Aussie star heard about the same, he dismissed the notion. However, the tables did turn, and the Brazilian was right. Yet, when it comes to seeing a middleweight showdown, the Australian is more interested in seeing a fight between Israel Adesanya and Borralho.
Robert Whittaker gave his choice for a middleweight showdown
‘The Natural’ has always shown consistency ever since his first step inside the cage and has an undefeated run for now. So Whittaker believes that Adesanya is the logical opponent for him. “I think that’s a great fight [vs. Adesanya] for him. It’s a tricky fight,” Robert Whittaker said on his YouTube podcast. “I think the guy’s riding the wave, right? He’s trying to get a title shot riding the wave or ride the wave into the next fight that’ll get him a title shot.”
‘Izzy’ has sadly been having back-to-back losses and needs to get back into the title picture. However, he has no other choice but to earn his way back up to the top of the ranks. “So Adesanya’s the next pick after Dricus. He’s doing the right things… [But] he’s in the top five. There are no easy fights… I’d love to see him fight Adesanya,” Whittaker added.
