Alex Pereira Faces Serious Allegations as Daniel Cormier Connects the Dots Between Hacking Controversy & Retirement Threat

After a whirlwind week marked by confusion, concern, and a flood of online speculation, the dust is finally starting to settle in Alex Pereira’s world. The former light heavyweight champion found himself at the center of controversy when a bizarre and emotional post surfaced on his X account, hinting at possible retirement and expressing frustration with the UFC. The cryptic message sent shockwaves through the MMA community, leaving fans questioning his future and wondering what was really going on behind the scenes. Pereira took to his X account to share a post, which is pretty unusual for him.

The post caption read, “I always answered the UFC’s calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that. I’ve never spoken poorly of the UFC, but with what I’ve just heard, I’m disheartened. I’ve already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me, this may be the start.” However, just a few hours after the chaos erupted, the Brazilian star took to social media to clear the air.

In a video posted to his official account, Alex Pereira confirmed that his page had been hacked, and he firmly denied any rumors of tension with the UFC. ‘Poatan’ shared a message that came as a sight of relief for the fans and the UFC as well: “Well, everyone, I’ve received a ton of messages from everyone who saw a post on my Twitter. I didn’t know about it, I was hacked. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, you guys see, but I was hacked, and I’ll resolve it. I have a great relationship with the UFC.”

Indeed, a sigh of relief for the fans, isn’t it? The Brazilian has always been the go-to man for the promotion for quite some time now. With him coming out and clarifying the news means we can soon see him back in action. But what if he is lying? Well, this is what Daniel Cormier feels. A clip of the conversation from the ESPN MMA show by Red Corner MMA. While speaking to Chael Sonnen, ‘DC’ said, “Pereira is a liar”.

He further added, “Pereira did not get hacked. Pereira might have tweeted something, and then somebody called him like, ‘Yo, calm down, let’s chill.’ I don’t believe the hacked thing, bro. It was too specific.” Daniel Cormier feels that Pereira might have been given the option to feature in the main event of UFC 317 against Magomed Ankalaev. However, the Brazilian might have responded with “Well, it’s a  short time to get ready.”

Daniel Cormier believes Alex Pereira wasn’t hacked at all.

After hearing the claim, Hunter Campbell responded, “Okay, Alex, we’re gonna give somebody else this title fight. Alex gets mad, goes to the internet, and posts that tweet.” Well, the former champion is only guessing at the moment, but is confident that this is what might have happened behind closed doors. Both Dana White and Magomed Ankalaev were surprised by Pereira’s tweet. The pair has now come out and shared their opinion on the development.

Dana White and Magomed Ankalaev make life easier for Alex Pereira

In the wake of all the recent drama, UFC CEO Dana White seems to have made a quiet but calculated move to steady the ship. His first step? Putting Alex Pereira front and center once again—this time in a fan-facing role. UFC Canada announced that ‘Poatan’ is set to appear at an official Meet & Greet event in Montreal on Thursday, May 8.

The announcement came with an enthusiastic message on Instagram: Chama! Don’t miss your chance to meet @AlexPoatanPereira!” It’s a clear sign that despite the turmoil, the UFC still sees Pereira as a key figure heading into UFC 315 fight week.

The meet-and-greet is scheduled to take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at MVP Resto-Bar Sportif, located at 200 St. Catherine St. E. While it’s not a press conference or major fight announcement, the event sends a strong message: Alex Pereira is still an important figure in the UFC’s plans and remains firmly in the spotlight. However, the current light heavyweight champion found a funnier side to it.

He took to his X account to clarify who actually hacked the Brazilian’s X account. Any guesses? Well, the 32-year-old went on to claim that it was rather him who had done that with a tweet. Ankalaev wrote, “It was me I hacked his account. Don’t worry, Alex. I’m waiting for you. ,” . ‘Poatan,’ who was previously in discussions for a potential quick rematch in August, now finds himself tangled in an unusual social media saga.
