For the Charles Schwab Challenge and the next scheduled Memorial Tournament, there is one golfer who gets the undivided attention of fans. It is the World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Though despite initial troubles at the start of the season, he has found his rhythm now as he bagged two consecutive wins at the CJ Cup Byrson Nelson and the PGA Championship. However, with the ongoing performance, the in-form golfer has raised the worry with his swing ending in an awkward, injury-prone position.
The 2025 Scottie Scheffler and injury have become synonymous. Earlier, before the season began, he got injured at the Christmas party, and now again, during the Charles Schwab Challenge. On the par-4, second hole, the golfer hurt his ankle in the follow-through after the drive. In the video shared by @golfoncbs, Scheffler is not just seen in an uneasy position, but also groaning in pain. Even as the video continued, he was seen pausing for a few seconds before he continued to limp towards the caddie. The video captioned, “Scottie appears to have hurt himself during one of his swing follow-throughs this week.”
With the injury scare, while the majority of the golf world seemed worried, fans have shown a different side to back the golfer. The fact is that they brought the palm injury in comparison with the current speculated ankle twist. Earlier, he got a cut on the right palm from a glass stem, but Scheffler, after a two-event gap, was back on the course, swinging hard. Now, with the twisted ankle, the expectations are the same. However, about the injury, there is no confirmation provided by the golfer or his team; the post is just a speculation based on visual of him limping and the awkward position that followed suit.
Fan’s reaction to Scottie Scheffler’s injury scare
The strong fan army of Mr. Inevitable has proved that indestructible with injuries.
One fan wrote, “It’s okay he’s a robot he’ll still win by 30.” The golfer has been following his unique swing flow, and despite being one of the tallest on the tour, crossing 6 feet 3 inches, he has managed to compete without injuring himself much. Even notable is that his swing leaves his back foot in the air, affecting the balance, but hasn’t been a cause for concern until now.
More fans joined, jokingly commenting about the injury, “There isn’t much cartilage left in those ankles,” and “Who said this was an ankle injury? Lol.” Cartilage in the ankle protects the bone by absorbing shock, but for Scheffler unusual twist has been just a normal story for a normal day ever since. This invited the fans to share their thoughts. One said there wasn’t any cartilage left, while the other simply laughed at the joke of considering it an injury, as it is just the normal swing follow-through for him.
More fans joined, stating on the same lines, “This can’t be the first time this has happened. He’s literally on the brink of doing it every time he swings.” The 6 feet 3 inches tall golfer hitting 300+ yards consistently isn’t a joke, but with the high swing and tall stature, the balance is what was hampered. Even that can be seen as Scheffler stumbled after the impact was complete. However, it has been a chronic part of Scheffler, and fans are not really breaking their heads over it.
One fan shared the creative side of Scheffler’s awkward stance. He wrote, “He’s just trying to cross his legs to look slender for the photos.” As per the fan, Scheffler was just utilizing the swing follow-through to make it look unique-poses similar to that of a ballet dancer. Not just him, but many other fans had also added GIFs for their part of ballet dancers after watching the unique stance.
Though apart from the optimism that fans have shown considering his past injury and recovery tenure, we hope that the golfer is fine as the Memorial Tournament and the US Open are just around the corner. Will Scheffler be teeing off next or are we in for another upset after McIlroy backed off from the event? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
