All Starts to Look Well for 18-Year-Old Track and Field Star as Disqualification Turns into an Unexpected Blessing

Breathtaking to heartbreaking—that would sum up the ISSA/GraceKennedy Athletics Championships for a Jamaican high schooler. On March 27, 2025, she ran a 100-meter sprint in what seemed like her own league. And boy, was she not quick? The teenager was the first to run through the finish tape with a world under-20 leading time of 11.08 seconds – the fifth-fastest Jamaican junior female. What she had next in mind was to double the distance and repeat the success, so she ran the qualifiers, eventually going to the semi-finals. Result? Disqualification. But there’s still this one hope for her!

Rori Dunk tweeted, “BREAKINGSabrina Dockery, who had earlier been disqualified for a false start in the girls’ 200-meter race….” The Lacovia High student was suspended from the semi-finals of the 200m race alongside Shevi-Anne Shim and Abigail Wolfe for a false start. The man continued, “…will now be competing in a makeup race after winning her appeal. The race is said to be run at 7 p.m. local time.”
