Amazed Naomi Osaka Applauds Fan’s “Insane” Tribute to Her Iconic US Open Look

Remember the second-round match of the 2024 US Open between Naomi Osaka and Karolina Muchova? Osaka stepped out on the court at the Flushing Meadows in a captivating, black bow ruffled Nike outfit. Well, it was a sight to behold because the four-time major winner simply nailed that look. Osaka might have moved to the US at a very young age, but she never forgot her roots. “I remember one of the first times I went to Japan, I saw so many frills and so many bows,” she said to the New York Times, making it clear what inspired that stunning look. Being a fashion icon, Osaka hardly ever goes wrong with her choice of clothing. Perhaps that’s the reason why several fans are obsessed with her. So much so that even they try to recreate her mesmerizing looks!

Osaka took to her Instagram and shared a story on Friday, giving a shoutout to one of her fans. But why? As it turns out, a user named Viola Su tried to recreate the enchanting moment from Osaka’s 2024 US Open campaign. She donned a similar outfit to the former World No.1’s black bow dress while attending an event and swinging the racket to strike a pose.

It didn’t take long for Osaka to notice the avid fan’s amazing effort. Eventually, she shared Su’s story in which the latter could be seen posing in the recreated version of the Japanese star’s US Open custom Nike outfit. “Oh this is insane ”, Osaka wrote in her story. For the uninitiated, Osaka’s inevitably attractive outfit was created by famous fashion designer Ambush’s Yoon Ahn in collaboration with Nike.

Osaka is the one to always experiment with her on-court attire. Remember how she introduced her very own custom outfit back in January 2024? At the Australian Open, her longtime sponsor, the $120 billion brand, Nike, let her design her own line. “Yesterday I found, new purpose in tomorrow. Today, I’m Stronger,” read the post from Nike in January 2024, ahead of Osaka’s AO campaign. It featured a picture of Osaka in a black sleeveless.

Even at this year’s edition of the Australia Open down under, Osaka decided to flaunt a new custom Nike outfit. She wore a sunflower-inspired dress that looked simply breathtaking. “The Australian Open’s the happy Slam, so I thought it was really fitting for it to have a sunny theme,” the Japanese said after her first-round victory against Caroline Garcia.

While Osaka’s appearance was on point, the performance wasn’t. And it had nothing to do with her form but her abdominal injury. It eventually forced her to withdraw from the first Major of this season. However, Osaka is gathering herself to make a solid comeback.

Naomi Osaka to step back on the court with 2025 BNP Paribas Open

A few days back, Naomi Osaka did a Q&A session on Instagram, where she confirmed her return. “I’m playing Indian Wells,” she wrote in her story while revealing her participation at the 2025 BNP Paribas Open. The 27-year-old will look to improve her record at this event.

Three years ago, in the 2022 edition, she failed to move past the second round at the Indian Wells after Veronika Kudermetova eliminated her with a score line of 6-0, 6-4. Last season, when she came back after giving birth to daughter Shai in 2023, the story remained unchanged. Osaka reached the third round, but only to be beaten by Belgium’s Elise Mertens in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. However, the former US Open champion seems quite determined this time around.

Ahead of her campaign at the Indian Wells, Osaka revealed her goals for 2025. Is she eying something big? Yes. “I have a lot of goals going forward. For as long as I can play, I really want to win Wimbledon and Roland Garros (the French Open) and get a career grand slam,” she said during an interview with CNN on February 22.

In short, the four-time Major winner wants to add a fifth one to her tally sooner rather than later. Will she be able to do that this season? Well, only time will tell.
