Andy Reid Announces Injury Update on Key Weapon Before Super Bowl as Chiefs Share ‘Doubtful’ Update on Skyy Moore

“I feel terrible for Rashee. We will hope for the best.” Those were Andy Reid’s first words when he heard about Rashee Rice’s knee injury. That injury setback in week 4 ended the 24-year-old’s season prematurely after lighting up the league in the first 3 weeks. He was Patrick Mahomes’ most targeted receiver, catching 24 passes on 29 targets. So, his loss definitely left a gaping hole in the Chiefs’ offense for the rest of the year. Now, with the Super Bowl only a few days away, it seems like the Chiefs are getting a huge boost in the form of Rashee Rice.

On Wednesday’s press conference for Super Bowl LIX, Andy Reid gave a massive update on injuries. “We’re as healthy as we’ve been. Knock on wood.” And speaking about everyone, the Chiefs head coach really meant it. Even Rashee Rice, who has stayed on the injury reserves since early October, “is doing well.” It would be nothing short of a miracle if Rice somehow managed to make the Super Bowl after undergoing surgery to repair his LCL.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid said they are as healthy as they’ve been all season. No injuries. Everyone on roster will practice.

However, not everything about Rashee Rice’s imminent return is positive for the Chiefs. Reid also added that his injury looked like “a good sign for next year.” That means the Chiefs Kingdom still has to wait for Rashee to come back and start from where he left off this year. See, it isn’t like Rice had suffered an ACL injury. But the timeline of recovery from an ACL injury ended up being the same as the LCL Rice suffered. So, it didn’t really get him as much help as he would have hoped for. As for the Chiefs, they went in and brought DeAndre Hopkins from the Titans to take Rashee’s place until he came back.

Well, Hopkins, for one, gave the Chiefs the stability they needed in their receiver room. Only playing 10 games in Kansas City, Hopkins caught 41 receptions, 437 passing yards, and only 4 TDs. Not bad, actually, considering he only started 5 of those games. Now, besides just looking at the positives, the Chiefs Kingdom suddenly found themselves tangled in a negative update surrounding their receiver Skyy Moore.

Skyy Moore faces uncertainty with Super Bowl availability

See the former second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft—Moore is all too familiar with playing the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Because the last time he met them in Super Bowl 57, Moore caught one TD from Patrick Mahomes, which proved to be massive. It gave the Chiefs a 35-27 cushion with less than 10 minutes to go. However, this season, Skyy Moore has found himself more of a watcher than a performer. Playing just 82 snaps on the offense, Moore didn’t record a single catch or a target. And now, with the Super LIX approaching, Moore has found himself in a tough spot.

As per the latest injury report of the Chiefs, Moore is the only one who remains in doubt for the Super Bowl. Other listed players, like Patrick Mahomes, Bryan Cook, and Jawaan Taylor, were all on the injury report. However, none of them got a doubtful tag, unlike Moore. His problems with his abdomen can continue to haunt the wide receiver. So, is there any chance for Skyy Moore to play in the Super Bowl LIX? Well, considering how things are moving, he might just play. And probably go on and recreate that TD he had against the Eagles 3 seasons back.
