Angel Reese Hits Out at Viral $1400 Joke on Social Media

Controversy and Angel Reese kind of go hand in hand at this point. From what she says to how she shows up, it’s almost like she can’t escape the spotlight. Recently in came Robert Griffin III. The former NFL quarterback decided to share his thoughts online, slamming racism in the league, sure, but also casually throwing in a line about “clear basketball evidence that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark.” Reese wasn’t having it. Hours later, she called him out, flat-out saying he was “lying.” But just as she was clapping back at RGIII, another now viral statement started floating around.

So here’s what happened. A memes page BricksCenter posted what looked like a quote from Reese during All-Star weekend. According to them, when asked about WNBA salaries, she supposedly said, “Y’all make $1,400 a week, I make $1,400 in 7 days.” Now, at first glance, you might believe it. Remember that Dior bag from the Paris Olympics? This fake quote seemed like it was linking back to that.

But turns out, she never said it. Reese hopped into the comments of one of the posts herself and shut it all the way down: “i never said this. yall make up anything.” See, it kinda felt fake from the jump. But many still believed.  After all, Reese has been very open about her finances before. She once admitted her WNBA salary doesn’t even cover her $8,000 rent. For context, her rookie contract, as the No. 7 overall pick, pays her $73,439 in year one. But thankfully, the bag is coming from elsewhere too.

Just a month later, she signed a multiyear endorsement extension with Reebok and will even have her own signature shoe. She once joked online that her sponsorships pay the bills and we don’t doubt that for a second.

Some of yall are so damn dumb. Grown ADULTS out here can’t tell the difference between a fake AI article and real news. You’d expect kids to fall for that nonsense not full-blown adults. Come on now . pic.twitter.com/V1C6idfWwN

But if there’s one thing Angel Reese knows how to do, it’s turning online noise into business. Take the whole “mebounds” thing, for example. If you’ve followed her game, you know she dominates the glass but people started mocking her for grabbing rebounds off her own misses. What did Angel do? She laughed along and owned it.

“Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing… Y’all ate that up,” she said on social media. Then she trademarked it. “Mebounds” is now an official brand, with T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats already on the way. That’s how you flip a meme into a money-maker. But this $1,400 joke? She didn’t find it clever or funny…it was something she felt crossed a line.

Oh and if you thought that was the only rumor floating around about her lately… you might want to take a double check.

Hard Launch? Angel Reese’s viral moment with NBA Star sparks buzz

The WNBA All-Star weekend turned into a full-blown content hub. Between StudBudz Live chaos and the very public hard launch of Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, fans were eating well. But they weren’t the only ones drawing attention. Rumored couples like A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo, plus Gabby Williams and Marine Johannès, also had fans entertained and then came Angel Reese.

If you’ve been on the internet long enough, you probably know that dor months now, social media’s been buzzing with theories about Reese and Orlando Magic’s Wendell Carter Jr., thanks to Reese being spotted courtside at several Orlando Magic games during her hectic offseason.

Then came her 23rd birthday celebration, And guess who showed up? Obviously her rumored boyfriend. Fans raised an eyebrow, but it was still all speculation…until the WNBA All-Star Game added fuel to the fire. ESPN’s TikTok posted a short video of Reese and Carter sharing a hug and smiling for pictures postgame.

The clip instantly went viral, especially since Carter was wearing a custom Angel Reese tee. For fans, it felt like a “finally!” moment. Within hours, the video was all over X, with many calling it a hard launch. Of course, some users tried to claim they were cousins, but others were convinced.

Still, in true Angel Reese fashion, she’s kept it all very hush-hush. She’s never been one to overshare about her dating life, so don’t expect a cute couples’ post just yet. But for many fans, this latest sighting says everything.
