With the Kentucky Derby just a few days away, the top contenders are putting in the hard miles during practice sessions. Being such a crucial period ahead of the big event, there have been several cases of injuries to the horses. One such incident took place earlier today, as one contender for the 2025 Kentucky Derby title, Tappan Street, suffered an unfortunate fate.
According to several reports, the Florida Derby winner, Tappan Street, has pulled out of the Kentucky Derby due to a condylar fracture in his right foreleg. His trainer, Brad Cox, announced the unfortunate news, as X-ray reports confirmed his injury. Earlier on Saturday morning, he breezed through five furlongs in 59.60 seconds at Churchill Downs, following which Cox noticed the injury. During an interview, Cox gave details on the situation, saying, “It’s nothing major I don’t believe at all, but he does require surgery and obviously is out of the Derby. I don’t think it’s career-ending or anything.”
