“I hate social media,” a line Kyle Busch said at the dawn of NASCAR’s 2023 social media facelift. It was not just him. Other great names like Logano and Kevin Harvick echoed the same feeling, calling social media a ‘necessary evil’ for the sport. Austin Dillon’s wife is making headlines for the same. It’s all directed toward the content consumed on social media and its underlying consequences.
Whitney Dillon was an influencer who shared every small good-piece event from her life with approximately 212,000 followers. However, recently she has expressed her resentment with the platform she felt so connected with, leaving the fans astounded over a story. After Bubba Wallace left behind all those social media nuisances back in 2024 and revamped his positive mental state, is Whitney Dillon ready to embrace the same?
What made Austin Dillon’s wife Whitney take this step?
Remember when Tony Stewart, the former owner of SHR talked about how criticism from social media impacted personal life? He said, “Everybody is a critic on social media because all they have to do is sit in their room at their parent’s house while they’re 40 years old.” However, it’s not just criticism Whitney’s husband Austin bears after missed wins or problems related to her professional life. Recently, social media carried some heartbreaking news to the entire world and she might have fallen victim to this negativity.
“I’ve always loved Instagram, It was so much fun to post my life- I’ve made friends, a career and built one heck of a community. But the lack of compassion for humanity, abuse and evil is BEYOND so I’ve decided to delete my account. It’s been one heck of a ride, I love you all, God bless! Whit Whit,” wrote Whitney on her Instagram story before quitting the platform completely a few hours ago. This is for her mental peace and family as well.
Their baby Blaize was born in 2023 and, Mommy Dillon has to take care of her. The recent surge in bad news online like California Wildfires being covered, new HMPV virus cases in China, and increasing crimes worldwide might have given way to her decision. While terming these things ‘evil’ rather than ‘inevitable’ could be a little over the top, at least it allowed her to decide on her good!
Whitney who has been part of shows like ‘Racing Wives’ and ‘Life in the Fast Lane with Austin’, once said in an exclusive for The List in 2022, “I’m such an open book by nature.” She further added, “But I have people in my life that are scared. They’re like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ I tend to be too open, so that’s the good thing about our squad. Austin (Dillon) will reel us in and be like, ‘Hey, let’s not be so open.’ But it’s been really good because I think that’s what the world needs. We need realness. We need people to be who they actually are, not who they’re pretending to be.”
Well, that was past, now at present, her experience doesn’t seem very rewarding. Fans could only wish that she stuck to these claims. However, Whitney Dillon stepping down from social media does not mean everything’s lost.
Instagram has paved the way for her offline success. The jewelry business she started with her friend Mariel, ‘Shop The WM’, is a recognized brand now. Her personal Instagram account boosted her brand visibility, which connected her to potential clients. She also used her IG account to raise social awareness like expressing her commitment toward racial equity, and honored significant figures of American history, like Martin Luther King Jr. But, Austin Dillon uses the platform for different reasons. He has a racing fraternity to feed with his content.
Austin Dillon, Whitney’s husband and 2018 Daytona 500 winner has remained silent about his wife’s decision. He only posted a story of his kids riding scooterboards. Furthermore, his stance on social media has always been crystal clear.

In Jeff Gluck’s ‘Social Spotlight’ in 2017, Dillion highlighted how he dealt with Twitter haters. “I personally just block them. If they say something I don’t like, I just block ‘em,” he said. Pretty simple and non-confrontational way which yields results! He further added, “I like the new Instagram, too, because you can actually put words that key off that don’t let it come up in your comments.” Filtration is a good way to navigate around hatred on social media. But, little did Austin know in 2017 that the social media he liked for a reason would lead his wife to quit it in 2025! Even though Austin and Whitney have varied interests, both support each other in their continuous aspiration to achieve things.
Austin Dillion will soon race in the 2025 Cup Series and managing the kids could be a heck of a ride with Daddy Dillon away! But, Dillon has a lot of load on his shoulders, considering his 2024 performance.
What’s in for Austin Dillon this Cup Series Season?
Austin Dillon, the grandson of Richard Childress, had a good 2024 season to sum up. He finished in the top-5 once and five times in the top-10. Daddy Ace also won at the Richmond Raceway, the worst short track according to Dale Jr. And he seems all ready to dive in 2025 on a high note.
On his Twitter account, he posted a pic from his media day, with a checkered flag, and wrote, “2025. The work starts now.” In which he tagged his prominent sponsors, Bass Pro Shops and Winchester. This year, he partnered with Richard Boswell, his new crew chief for the 2025 season. He had previously served at SHR for Chase Briscoe, who won at the Cookout Southern 500, overall he had 3 top fives and 9 top tens. His final ranking was also 14th.
“I have tremendous respect for Richard Childress, Austin Dillon, and all the hardworking people at Richard Childress Racing, and I am honored to have the opportunity to help contribute to the on-track success of the legendary No. 3 Chevrolet,” Richard Boswell explained about his new endeavor with RCR. His father used to work with Dale Earnhardt Sr. and, his inclination to the team seems strong. Let’s hope this season works out for Austin Dillon and Boswell, a man who bears the first name of his grandfather!
In the upcoming season, we will see Daddy Dillon take care of the family racing business and Mommy Dillon will look after the family to the fullest. She has given up on her points of distraction too. But, fans have previously seen folks get off social media for a while and come back later. Can we expect the same actions from Whitney Dillon? Well, her Instagram account would have already shut down by the time you read this article. Let’s see what the future holds.
