Bill Cowher Admits Steelers Legend Would Ignore Messages Mid-Game After Ex-HC Confirmed Best QB Choice Mike Tomlin

Ugh, you know, can I coach and still be out here with my boys? I don’t think so. This is what matters to me right now, being a husband and a father.Ben Roethlisberger put it simply, he won’t be returning to the NFL, neither as a coach nor as a player. Big Ben got the Steelers two Lombardis, the second one in 2008. After that, Ben played for 13 more seasons with the team but could not win another championship. Roethlisberger was also the team’s last stable QB because ever since he left, the Steelers can’t seem to find a QB who can hold the position in the long run.

Now that we are speaking of the two-time Super Bowl champ, a former HC of Pittsburgh shared a hilarious memory from Ben’s QB days. Steelers ex-coach and former LB Bill Cowher dropped by The Dan Patrick Show recently. The host tossed an interesting question to Bill, asking if there was any truth to the story that Ben would sometimes act like he couldn’t hear the coach.

Yeah, that’s when he got, he got way too comfortable,” said Cowher, laughing. “He’d be like, ‘I think my headphones are out.’ No, they’re not. I go, ‘Let me see that helmet.’ I said, ‘The helmet’s fine.’ He goes, ‘It just came back on.’ I go, ‘Yeah, it came back on. It’s called selective hearing.” Dan also tossed a question the answer to which everyone’s looking for. He asked Bill about the Steelers’ current QB situation and who they should go with.

Bill Cowher told Dan Patrick today that he believes Russell Wilson is the Steeler’ best choice at QB in 2025: “I personally think that Russell Wilson is your best choice. It’s gonna be a better offensive line room with [Troy] Fautanu coming back and moving Broderick [Jones] to…

I personally think that Russell Wilson is your best choice. It’s gonna be a better offensive line room with [Troy] Fautanu coming back and moving Broderick [Jones] to left tackle. I’m thinking you’re looking at the best receiving core you’re gonna have in a long time,” said the 67-year-old.

This is a developing story.
