Bo Bassett Takes Major Step Outside NCAA Before Joining Iowa Hawkeyes

A few months back, the wrestling world was really surprised. So, what’s the story? What went down? When Bo Bassett decided to join the Iowa Hawkeyes wrestling program back in February 2025, he couldn’t help but share his excitement and the joy of finally reaching a dream he had for a long time. Absolutely, this was a moment a lot of wrestling fans had been looking forward to, as one of the top high school prospects made his NCAA decision.

In his live announcement on FloWrestling, Bassett mentioned, “Maybe it wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right decision. And I’m eager to be a Hawk. Iowa is an empire.” So, if you’ve been keeping up with his college decision journey, you probably noticed that a ton of teams were eager to have him join their ranks, wearing their colors. But Baffert really wanted to commit to the Hawkeyes.

So, before he even steps onto the NCAA stage, we already know where he’s headed next in wrestling. Bo Bassett shared an update on X, saying, “I got next year in U20 too! I will be wrestling in the Senior WTT in Kentucky for 65 kgs. God bless sir.” Bassett’s choice to take part in the Senior World Team Trials is a big step in his wrestling journey, showing his desire to push his limits before he starts his college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The  U20 World bronze medalist, has shown off his skills on big stages in wrestling already. His participation in the Senior Trials really shows he’s ready to take on any challenge. It highlights his commitment to improving his skills and gaining more experience.
