Brad Marchand Receives Brutal Message After First Florida Panthers Goal

Brad Marchand is finally off the mark for his new team! The legendary star scored his first goal for the Panthers yesterday as they defeated the Red Wings to cement their place in the Stanley Cup playoffs race. It was a dominant performance from the Panthers, and Marchand’s first goal was the icing on the cake. But this is Marchand we’re talking about and naturally there was some lighthearted banter to go along with the goal.

It was a long-awaited goal from Marchand, who’s finding his feet after injury. While he was out injured we’ve also missed him for his silver tongue which remains sharp as ever. However, on this occasion, he was on the receiving end as his teammate, Evan Rodrigues, delivered a chirp on Marchand’s first goal.

Asked about how he felt after Brad Marchand finally opened his account for the Panthers, Rodrigues revealed, “It sucked, I wasn’t happy for him. He’s a rat and I wasn’t too happy.” However, Marchand was sitting right beside him and smiled broadly after hearing his teammate’s reaction. Giving back to Rodrigues, Marchand cheekily replied, “Yeah, he’s not wrong I’ve hated him we escaped it together in the summer and I’ve hated him for a long time. So that’s not going to change now.”

Nonetheless, with Brad Marchand finally off the mark now, he looks in good shape before the Stanley Cup Playoffs. A crucial member of the team, the Panthers need Marchand to continue firing past the net as they hope to lift the Stanley Cup title this year.

Meanwhile, Marchand’s teammates weren’t the only ones celebrating the legend’s first goal for the Panthers. Marchand’s wife, Katrina Sloane, shared a heartwarming reaction to her husband’s maiden goal for the Panthers. She shared the video of the goal on her Instagram story and dropped multiple heart emojis, showing how much she loved the moment. Later, the Panthers coach, Paul Maurice, also opened up about the chirping in the team’s dressing room.

Panthers coach plays it down cool

All’s well that ends well, it is often said. A similar emotion was displayed by the Panthers coach, Maurice, who was happy with the result and Brad Marchand opening his account for the Panthers. While he admitted that the chirping in the dressing room was a part and parcel of the game, Maurice displayed also spoke of the energy and verve that Marchand brought with him.

He said, “That’s a part of the package and an important part of it. Everybody’s going to be wired here in 10 days, whatever it is, two weeks. Especially right now, grinding through some of these, he brings lots of energy, right? He’s got lots to say and it makes it fun.”

Meanwhile, Marchand is having the best period of the season lately. “I’m just enjoying this whole journey. It’s such a unique experience for myself and I’ve been part of really good teams that have accomplished big things and some that haven’t. Regardless, what you realize is that these opportunities are very few and far between and you’ve got to enjoy every day in this league. And I’m having a lot of fun right now,” he said, as he looks to continue his form in the upcoming games.

The Panthers next face the Sabres and would aim to make it a hat-trick of wins. Can they lift the Stanley Cup title this season? Let us know your views in the comments below.
