Brett Gardner’s Son Miller’s Official Cause of Death Finally Confirmed by Toxicology Test Results: Report

While the MLB community is still mourning the heartbreaking loss of Miller Gardner, the cause of death for the youngest son of Yankees veteran Brett Gardner has now been officially confirmed. Miller Gardner, 14, tragically passed away on March 21 while on vacation with his family in Costa Rica. His body was discovered in a hotel room, and initial reports suggested he passed away peacefully in his sleep.

At first, asphyxiation due to potential food-related intoxication was considered a possible cause. However, further tests have now revealed a different story.

Brett Gardner and his wife, Jessica, who also share an older son, Hunter, have remained private about the details of their trip and Miller’s condition. In their statement, they requested privacy, saying, “As we mourn and search for healing.” With the investigation underway, the family chose to wait for the final report rather than speculate.

We have so many questions and so few answers at this point, but we do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st,” the Gardner family said.

Now, those unanswered questions have finally been resolved.

The toxicology results are in, and the carboxyhemoglobin test found a saturation of 64%. Concentrations above 50% are already lethal,” Randall Zúñiga, director of the Judicial Investigation Agency, said in a press statement. “In this case, the saturation percentage is higher, thus proving the police’s hypothesis that the death was due to exposure to carbon monoxide.

With food poisoning officially ruled out, the focus shifted to how Miller inhaled such a lethal amount of carbon monoxide. Reports indicate that his hotel room was adjacent to a machine room, raising the possibility that the deadly gas leaked from there.

A tragic end to a young life full of promise. His passing also serves as a stark reminder of the hidden dangers travelers can face. “When we travel — whether staying at a hotel, Airbnb, or even in an RV — it’s worth considering bringing a portable carbon monoxide monitor for added protection,” Dr. Nicole Saphier, a Fox News medical contributor, advised.

A desperate last-minute fight to save Miller Gardner

The physician who treated Miller Gardner at the resort has shared heartbreaking details about the efforts to save his life. Dr. Kevin Gannon, who owns Manuel Antonio Urgent Care near the upscale resort where Miller passed away, revealed that the teenager was already unconscious when medical personnel arrived that morning.

Medical teams suspected cardiac arrest and performed CPR for 30 minutes, but tragically, it was in vain.

The resort where the Gardner family stayed has denied that carbon monoxide was present in Miller’s room. While they confirmed dangerous gas levels in the machine room, they insist it did not reach the guest rooms. With the FBI now involved, the case remains open as forensic reports are still pending. Only time will tell whether the final findings will bring full closure.

The entire baseball community continues to grieve, hoping for the full truth to emerge. The Yankees’ official statement expressed their deep sorrow: “Words feel insignificant and insufficient in trying to describe such an unimaginable loss. It wasn’t just Brett who grew up in this organization for more than 17 years—so did his wife, Jessica, and their two boys, Hunter and Miller.” Nothing can be more heartbreaking than this.

We all hope that the Gardner family gets all the strength at this challenging time, and hopefully, they can come out soon. Let’s just have Miller’s smiling face on our minds. Rest in peace, Miller.
