Just earlier this year, Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, teased the arrival of baby Golden with a sweet message on Instagram. “Hello 2025, we’re ready for you, little one.” It came on the back of a gracious maternity shoot where Brittany was draped in all-white attire. She leaned back while flaunting her fully grown baby bump. Then, within a week, the couple announced their third baby while cradling Golden’s feet in a black and white photo. Golden Raye has just joined the Mahomes household, while the Chiefs welcomed a new fan in their community with open arms. Now, almost four months later, Brittany is serving in a different role against the backdrop of another pregnancy.
On July 12, 2024, Patrick and Brittany announced their third pregnancy together in a heartwarming way. Their two kids, Silver and Bronze and Brittany all came under a single frame while holding Golden’s ultrasound pictures. “Round three, here we come,” Brittany wrote in her caption, sending fans into a frenzy. Well, a week later, they also revealed their baby’s gender. All of those moments were special as the Mahomes family eagerly waited for Golden’s birth. But having already gone through a rollercoaster of excitement and emotions, Brittany is set to witness the same, this time from the sidelines.
Her close friend, Melissa Matthews, just had her baby shower, like Brittany enjoyed hers last year. She even shared a sweet picture of Melissa holding her baby bump while writing on her story, “Showered my girl today. Can’t wait for you to become Mama Mel.” Both had baby pink dresses on, while diapers were stacked beside them. You can already guess that Brittany is helping Melissa prepare for her first baby. Having already given birth to three, no one can probably give better advice than Brittany when it comes to navigating a pregnancy.

Brittany once claimed that her third pregnancy was her “hardest ever.“ Sickness, exhaustion, and skin issues—the soccer mom went through it all. But she also learned how to overcome those challenges with patience and love. Now, with her close friend, Melissa, being pregnant. Brittany would surely give her a few tips and tricks to ensure she doesn’t go through the same pain. While Brittany was busy celebrating a baby shower, her husband found himself embroiled in controversy.
Patrick Mahomes lands himself in some hot water because of his hairstyle
Mahomes has always been recognized for his signature longer-style mohawk. Ever since he joined the NFL and started picking up Super Bowls like flowers from a garden, he has never really changed his style. In an interview with KCTV, Mahomes even revealed the reason behind not experimenting with his hair. “I’ve wanted to do it for a while, but it was kind of one of those superstitions. I kept winning the Super Bowl, which is a good thing. But I didn’t want to cut the hair while I was doing it.” Mahomes even told himself enough of superstitions before Super Bowl LIX that he would shake things up no matter what the result.
“I told everybody during the season that win or lose, if we win three in a row or if we lose. I’m getting a haircut like that’s enough,” Mahomes continued. But then he proceeded to call his hairstyle “nappy”— a derogatory term used to describe Black people’s hair texture. While Mahomes himself is biracial with a white mom and a black father, maybe he didn’t mean it that way. He said, referring to his fans, “I can’t believe all you guys let me keep that nappy hair for so, like I look way better now with the short hair. So I’ll be keeping this going forward.”
That nappy reference triggered the Black community as people started coming after him on social media. “Patrick Mahomes thinking he had nappy hair, I hate that mf,” one angry fan wrote on X. Then there was another fan who felt disrespected with Mahomes’ nappy remark. “If Patrick Mahomes thinks his hair texture is nappy, then I don’t seem wanna know what he’d say about my hair texture.” Well, those reactions didn’t stop there. As another fan chimed in with his fiery criticism of Mahomes’ nappy hair reference. “Your hair wasn’t nappy babes. It was DRY. But we don’t expect you to know the difference anyway,” a fan wrote on X.
Since setting off this whirlwind of controversy, Mahomes hasn’t spoken on this matter. But it’s safe to say maybe he didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s sentiment. It was just him expressing his thoughts to his beloved Chiefs Kingdom.
