Despite being the 2020 U.S. Open champion, he received a lot of backlash for his absurd methods. His unique approach was frowned upon, and he was not acknowledged for his success. Moving to LIV Golf didn’t help DeChambeau, as he received more heat. But all that changed in 2024. After his second U.S. Open win, the fans finally started appreciating what he had to offer. His collaboration with Donald Trump for his YouTube channel only helped him gain more popularity. Today, the 31-year-old is regarded as one of the most beloved athletes in the sport. But things are not always as smooth sailing as they seem for him.
After a dreadful finish to the 2025 Masters, DeChambeau received a lot of criticism for the final round fallout. His overall attitude was also judged by the fans as he got bitter after the embarrassing loss. The Crushers GC captain started deflecting the blame, questioning Rory McIlroy for the lack of communication on the Sunday at Augusta National. But he only faced further backlash for trying to steal the limelight from the Irishman. It has been a few days since then, and things have turned around for DeChambeau. He won LIV Golf Korea 2025 and is now back to being people’s favorite.
A few weeks ago, Channel 5 journalist Nick Beres had covered Evans’ story and how the LIV Golf pro’s associate made him aware of one of his biggest fans. DeChambeau had called the Celina local back then and talked to him for twenty minutes. Beres had also attached a video where you can see a nervous Evans speaking with his idol over the phone. After the long conversation, the scientist asked him if there was anything more he could do. That’s when the teenager requested a round of golf with him. To his surprise, DeChambeau agreed, and so Evans created the most beautiful memories with his golf idol.
NUCLR GOLF shared Bryson DeChambeau’s beautiful interaction with one of his fans, Evan, who is battling cancer, recently. Evan’s mom also shared how DeChambeau covered their flights and all other expenses as he flew them to Texas. “He invited us to his house, where he hung out for the day,” she said, reliving her and Evan’s trip. After gifting the 14-year-old a lot of autographed merch and an outfit from his closet and treating them to lunch and dinner, the group went out golfing.
Stephanie added they enjoyed “an evening of golf on Grapevine Golf Course in Texas!” DeChambeau’s nature shone through his actions during their meeting, as Evan’s mom mentioned how generous he was during their interactions. The LIV Golf Korea champion also took the time to sign autographs for all the fans who were in attendance to watch them play. He also took pictures with everyone who recognized him at the Grapevine Golf Course.
The trio then went back to the LIV Golf pro’s abode, where they enjoyed the sunset on his rooftop deck. Stephanie was clearly surprised by how “humble” and “positive” DeChambeau was throughout the trip despite being such a famous golf star. He was actively involved in every conversation till the very last minute and also dropped them off at the airport himself. Although by that point, the Hayes were not as surprised by the way Bryson DeChambeau presented himself.

This isn’t the first time Bryson has shown affection for a young fan. At the 2024 PGA Championship’s final round, he threw a ball to the kid after he was done with his first 9 holes, but it was intercepted by an adult, who quickly ran off with the ball. The golfer then came to a complete stop and reversed course toward the adult when he realized the ball did not end up in the proper hands, yelling, “Hey” multiple times as his annoyance grew, all while pointing his golf club at the adult man running away.
Reading what DeChambeau was up to during his time away from professional golf touched everyone’s hearts. And they didn’t shy away from sharing their love for the 31-year-old.

Fans have admired the immense personal growth Bryson DeChambeau has gone through over the last few years. One of them didn’t shy away from confessing, “He’s completely changed my perception of him over the years. As a Brooks Koepka fan, I used to really dislike him; now I probably root for him the most in golf.” It looks like DeChambeau’s efforts to become more likable have worked out brilliantly, as even the most devoted haters (Brooks Koepka fans) have started supporting him now. Even Koepka has been much more neutral towards his rival than he used to be a couple of years ago.
The mad scientist’s selfness reflected well through the statement made about him on Reddit. If that wasn’t enough, someone also added, “A charitable and selfless player,” confirming that DeChambeau’s big heart has left a positive impression on the community. Another fan had something similar to say as they commented, “Awesome story! He really is a good dude with a big heart, & this is a great example of giving back to help those in need. #WayBiggerThanGolf .” DeChambeau is definitely a great human being for using his fame and fortune to contribute to the lives of his fans.
Looking at the pro golfer’s kind gesture is winning fans over again. Someone commended his efforts by simply saying, “Warms my heart.” They seemed moved by what DeChambeau is doing during his time away from competitive golf.
Someone even compared it to what other golfers are doing at the moment. A fan wrote, “The people’s champ. Meanwhile, JT is eating cheesesteaks and further abandoning the hope of ever having a chin.” Justin Thomas was seen enjoying a Philly Cheesesteak with Keith Mitchell after they finished their first round of the 2025 Truist Championship, and it seems people didn’t like it that much.
