They came to win but ended up finding family. That’s the Indiana Fever for you. From the wild Commissioner’s Cup victory to standing up for Caitlin Clark during physical on-court confrontations, the team has shown unusual bonding. As Sophie Cunningham says, they “really do love each other… Love (emphasis on that) spending time together.” So, in the ever-bonded locker room, even a new sponsorship can spark some trolling between the players.
We’re talking about the latest endorsement deal of Sophie Cunningham. The 28-year-old turned heads when she arrived for a game against Chicago wearing a bold Hot Girls Eat Arby’s T-shirt. What started as a cheeky fashion choice quickly turned viral, especially after she posted striking visuals on social media. But the best part? It became a platform for her teammates to have fun.
It all began when Sophie Cunningham posted her promotional photos for Arby’s. As of writing, the post has almost 100K likes and over 1800 comments. And one comment among them belongs to Lexie Hull. She couldn’t resist adding a cheeky comment to Cunningham’s post, stating, “SHE HAS THE MEATS.” It was a playful spin on the chain’s iconic slogan, We have the meats, with a clear double entendre. But the real stinger came from Clark.

Not one to miss a moment, Clark quickly jumped in with a hilarious clapback aimed at Hull, commenting, “No thanks.” Yeah, that’s Tres Leches for you. They are going to be a step too fast in pulling each other’s legs. Like the time the reigning ROTY commented, “Little less tanning. A little more bball ladies,” when Cunningham posted a carousel with Hull as a nod to their ‘Fever twins’ tag. But also a step too fast on cheering for milestones.
“Some of my flics made it huge,” Clark wrote as the former Mercury star hit a million on Instagram. Hull wasn’t far behind either. This dynamic, Cunningham seems to have laid a foundation for even before the team took the court. In the first trade of her six-year career, the 6′ 1″ guard was excited to be joining new forces. She had declared then that she was going to be the Sabrina Carpenter to Clark’s Taylor Swift, be there for whatever the young guard needed, and stick up at all times. That analogy may have been said as a joke, but we sure love how the chemistry panned out– goofy, trusting, and unshakable.
But they are keeping the hilarity off the court. They will still barge in during scuffles, but the masks are on when they hit the hardwood.
Indiana Fever adjusting to life without Caitlin Clark on court
It will be another fortnight or so before Caitlin Clark makes her way back to the court. She has missed 13 games so far and could potentially add 7 more as the Fever look to get her back in rhythm with enough practice before she’s suiting up again. But the team’s ensuring they do not crumble in her absence. First came the 80-90 win against the Aces and then, a strong 93-78 over the Chicago Sky.
“Yeah, I don’t think that it affects us anymore,” Cunningham had said. “I really do think that, you know, if we have Caitlin, great, and we know how to play with her. If we don’t have Caitlin, great. We know how to play without her, and I think that’s just so important.” And it showed.
Kelsey Mitchell put up a massive 35-point performance while rookie Makayla Timpson showed up for 14 in the previous game. Aliyah Boston, on the other hand, is playing her best offensive game while Hull and Natasha Howard are holding down the defense. The real test, however, is when they next face Cunningham’s former team, Phoenix Mercury, on Wednesday night. The Tres Leches are sure to keep it fun on the courtside, but will they keep up with the #3 team on the hardwood?
