So when Indiana’s Fever’s GM Amber Cox congratulated her on her win today, the reaction from the fans was not one you’d expect.
After what could only be called a ‘restrained’ announcement, almost 12 hours after Caitlin’s win, the fans were not elated with the GM’s post. Caitlin has been plagued with several issues on the court. Fans of the Indiana Fever and WNBA in general have seen Caitlin Clark face some pretty rough plays and bullying on the hardwood. The most recent incident happened in the game with the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, where Caitlin was poked in the eye by Jacy Sheldon. After an altercation between the two, Marina Mabrey came in and shoved Clark to the ground! So after the congratulations were said, the fans started their onslaught.
Amber’s post on X just said one thing, “Another one for the trophy case! So deserving. Congrats, CC!” Well, considering Caitlin is her side’s star player and has won Player of the Year, you’d think the team’s GM would be a little more excited, right?

Caitlin’s treatment on the floor has already warranted a lot of harsh reactions from the fans, and the management wasn’t spared from it either! The Indiana Fever side was already under fire for not providing any updates on the player’s status after the recent groin Injury. And now the fans directed all their anger at the GM’s post.

The fans wasted no time calling out the GM. “Yeah. Maybe you should do your job and protect her.” Caitlin’s time on the court has been rough, with a certain kind of aggression targeted towards her on the court. “How about protecting your players?!” said another fan while pointing out the Fever’s inability to take action against the rough plays on their key player.
Other fans commented on how the tweet came hours after the winning announcement and blamed the GM for not caring about her star player. “you have time to congratulate CC? i thought you and kelly were too busy building “Apple” to give a d— about her you can’t keep her healthy or build a championship team around her pls just send her to the liberty im sure they’ll know what to do with a generational talent.” Caitlin’s game is apparent with her brilliant three-point shots on the hardwood. The technicality she brings to the court has rarely been seen before in the WNBA, and fans think that the Indiana side isn’t doing enough to protect or build a proper lineup that could use her talents.
There’s no doubt that the Indiana Fever’s franchise saw unprecedented growth after Caitlin Clark joined the side, and this fan was straight up with it! “Hey Amber can you talk to your coach about showing more appreciation for CC, they asked her about this and it felt like they were pulling her teeth. At some point y’all as a whole organization have got to realize the grand majority are here for her and it doesn’t sit well with us.” The fans did come with Caitlin, and it’s been proven on the court. She has missed quite a few matches owing to her injuries this season, and on the days when fans couldn’t see her unravel her genius on the court, the ticket prices fell!
The late post led fans to question if the team even cared about a player who is “a generational talent” and questioned Amber on the Indiana side’s inaction regarding protecting their beloved star. “So you do care about CC? Why not act on it earlier and address the “dirty plays” aka “physicality” against her? If u did something earlier to stop this perhaps CC wouldn’t have gotten injured.” The blame, however, rests with officiating in the WNBA as well, as this isn’t the first time rough play and scuffles have sabotaged fair play on the court.
