The Super Bowl LIX was intense. The Eagles just crushed the Chiefs with their defense, overwhelming Patrick Mahomes & co. They came prepared to win the big game. And finally, they achieved their dream. For players, like DT Jalen Carter and CB Cooper DeJean, it was their first Super Bowl. But the league surprised the fans by not fining the DT for a tackle on QB’s head.
At 9:51 mark in the 4th quarter, the Chiefs were on 1 & 10 play. But the Eagles’ defensive line was in their best game. Not only did Carter reach the grim reaper, but he sacked the ball, which was recovered by the fellow DT Milton Williams. Excited over the play, Williams dunked over the crossbar for which the NFL fined him $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct (prop). Even the referees threw a flag and enforced penalty for 15 yards.

The fans found it hard to believe that despite hitting Patrick Mahomes’ helmet twice, Jalen Carter was not penalized. He didn’t face any consequences. The referees didn’t even throw the flag during the game as well. It definitely angered the hopeful fans, who thought the Chiefs could still make a comeback. That’s far from reality.
They were struggling at 37-6. The Chiefs looked lost in the game. Shoulders dropped, no action on the gridiron, the loss was imminent. The rivals were over the Cloud 9. In the 2nd quarter, at 7:58 mark, the Eagles OLB Jalyx Hunt violated the unsportsmanlike conduct (violent gesture) for signaling a bow and arrow during the game, forcing a $5,690 fine.
Over the entire season, the football world complained about referees favoring the Chiefs. The tables turned in the Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans.
Fans troll Patrick Mahomes getting hit by Jalen Carter
The anger was building up over the years. Fans claimed that the Chiefs weren’t a good team and qualified for the playoffs only with the support of referees and game officials. So, when one fan saw the tackle, he wrote, “Is that a ‘we gotta make things right’ move?”
Another fan felt happy that the refs didn’t give any penalty to Jalen Carter. He took a mean jibe and mentioned, “Finally missed a call for the chiefs.” Another person claimed that Patrick Mahomes fumbled the ball. So, Jalen Carter didn’t break any rule as he wrote, “Because when a dude fumbles the ball, nothing is off-limits after that.”
Another fan, also a Chiefs hater, mentioned the same point about the referees’ favor for Chiefs in different games and tweeted, “Go back and take a look how many missed calls on the chiefs all year.” The sentiment in the fanbase was more anti-Chiefs with one of the fans claiming, “The ball was already lost in a fumble, sweet cheeks was no longer protected. Besides, he earned it.”
It was a toughly fought game. However, Super Bowl LIX was the 3-peat curse. The Chiefs lost. And the grim reaper would like to get back on winning track.
