Calls Mount Over Dana White’s Ignorance for UFC 317 After Kamaru Usman vs. Joaquin Buckley Announcement

Dana White and Company have shrouded the International Fight Week (UFC 317) in quite a bit of mystery. Of course, the IFW is considered one of the most exciting events in the UFC. But for now, there is nothing but speculation about UFC 317. We have speculations about Ilia Topuria and Islam Makhachev headlining UFC 317. Before coach Morne Visser confirmed that Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev weren’t signed for International Fight Week, the internet was booming with speculations of the matchup for UFC 317. As of now, the fight fans feel like the UFC head honcho is announcing everything except UFC 317.

Well, the UFC did announce Jamahall Hill vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. for UFC Baku, set just one week before June 28. Even the fights for UFC 318 have been announced. To make things worse, White even announced the entry of his new bull, Playmate, on the internet. And when a fan asked him to announce the fights for International Fight Week, he simply provided the fan with a quirky reply in the comments section. He wrote, “LMFAO!!!!! I’m NEVER announcing it. How handsome is that BULL!?!? SAY IT.” And now, the UFC has announced the fights for UFC Atlanta, set to take place on June 14, 2025.

The main event for UFC Atlanta is going to be a fight in the welterweight division, between Kamaru Usman and Joaquin Buckley. And the co-main event will be fought between Rose Namajunas and Miranda Maverick in the women’s flyweight division. Of course, the professional fighters were pretty content with the matchup. Mike Perry and Vicente Luque took to the comments and dropped several fire emojis. Nina Marie Daniele also went to the comments to share her excitement. She wrote, “Terrific matchmaking! These are bad— fights!”

However, the fighting community seemed to have a different view. Of course, the excitement of getting to watch ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ return to the Octagon ran through the fans’ veins. But so did the intrigue around UFC 317. Let’s see what the fighting community had to say about UFC Atlanta’s announcement.

Fans bash Dana White and Co. for delaying UFC 317 announcement

Every single fight fan is arguably waiting for the UFC big guns to officially announce the fights for UFC 317. But getting the details of the adjacent fights without any mention of the IFW has seemingly frustrated the fight fans. One of the fans weighed in on this and commented, “everything getting announced but ufc 317.” Another fan took up a sarcastic tone and wrote, “UFC 317 will need more time to be announced for no reason.” A few of the fans even began questioning if the UFC wanted to go around the event. One of the comments read, “Are we just bypassing UFC 317 international fight week? ” The desperation was evident as the fans commented, “Bro, I need UFC 317 become official .”

On the other hand, many fans were upset about having to watch Usman compete at a Fight Night event instead of a PPV event. One of the fans questioned, “How the hell is usman Buckley on a fight night???” Some of the fans believed that the matchup was good enough to be included in the IFW. A comment read, “should’ve been on ufc 317.” Another comment went like this, “SHOULD’VE BEEN ON IFW/317, BUT I’LL TAKE IT.”

Nevertheless, the fight fans were pretty excited about ‘Nigerian Nightmare’s return. Well, the fans did seem bored of his talks on the Pound 4 Pound Podcast with Henry Cejudo. One fan reflected on this and commented, “I kind missed usman fighting!! Had enough of him yapping on the podcast!!” Another fan expressed his joy and wrote, “Man he’s finally back, with a good opponent too.” Needless to say, UFC’s matchmaking team succeeded in impressing the fight fans. A comment read, “About time the UFC had good matchmaking.” Now, the question that remained was whether Usman could overturn his 3-fight losing streak at UFC Atlanta.
