“Face of the NBA? They can always debate. But it’s like, I check off all the boxes.” Amid the buzzing debate of NBA’s next face, Jayson Tatum entered his name in the discussion with his public statement in February. He based his claim off his impressive resume at just 27-years-old – NBA Champion, along with perennial All-Star and All-NBA player. But being the face of the league is not just about accolades. It’s also about showing up in big moments. Unfortunately, Tatum failed to do so tonight, for the second straight time!
After losing the series opener on Monday, the Celtics had their backs against the wall heading into tonight’s Game 2 against the Knicks. And they needed a superstar calibre performance from Tatum to save the day. However, JT choked under the bright lights, playing his worst game of these playoffs. He shot 5 of 19 from the field and scored just 13 points. As a result, the Boston team ended up losing their straight game at home.
Sure enough, Celtics Nation was not pleased with Tatum underwhelming performance, and one even deemed him, “THE WORST SUPERSTAR TO EVER GRACE THIS SPORT.”

Of course, Tatum was not the only one the fans were furious at. Even Joe Mazzulla was criticized for his inability to make adjustments after Monday’s brutal loss. The internet was flooded with “Fire Joe Mazzulla” chants, urging the Celtics organization to make a leadership change.
