On 6 February, 2022, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum organized its pre-season NASCAR event. Fast forward to 2025, NASCAR has bid farewell to this home to many fans and moved to another. This year, the Cup Series will make its debut at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico. With that being said, it is no stranger to racing, as it has hosted Formula One races previously. But, what’s so special about this motorsports race track? This is the first time NASCAR goes INTER-NATIONAL! It’s the Mexican fans’ turn to have a slice of the action and Mexico has the honor of being the first foreign race. And, to celebrate something this great, the promotion was exceptional too.
Recently, before the Cup race at the Circuit of the Americas, Chase Elliott, Daniel Suarez, Ryan Blaney, and Christopher Bell paid a visit to Mexico. For Suarez, it was all more special because this will be his first ever home race and he will want to do well for his fans. But, it is also safe to say that the 2020 Cup Series champion has been getting a great impression of the venue. According to him, the hype has been building for the upcoming race.
Chase Elliott was truly impressed with the Mexican fans
Chase Elliott opened up to Frontstretch about his feelings regarding the new track, and the race scheduled in the near future. “I think all those things are good, there was nothing negative about the trip, my experience, what I saw, the race track, all of it. [I] Thought it was really positive, I think everyone is well-prepared, ready to take on the challenge,” he said, giving a 6-worded verdict not just for himself, but for the entire NASCAR fraternity! But, there should be a good reason for Elliott to be so hyped up far from home. Is it just a NASCAR thing, or the fun of going international?
Turns out, the event is a pool of excitement for everyone who enjoys racing! The NASCAR officials, drivers, track officials, promoters, and event organizers, all are pitching in to make this event a success. Addressing this, Chase Elliott said, ” I think that there’s a lot of excitement for the event. Everybody that is putting on a show really seems bought in on it and willing to give it a really good effort. Not only from the prep side of things, but also executing a proper race weekend. They have a lot of experience, with F1. Some of the same people are putting it together, promoting it, pushing it, that they do when F1’s in town.”
The Hendrick Motorsports star appreciated that everyone was very enthusiastic about hosting NASCAR. Seeing the same organisers who handle the F1 races, taking charge of the inaugural Cup race in Mexico sets the high note for the ceremony.

Now, the #9 driver is eager to tackle the track and experience it for the first time. The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will be the latest in a long line of purpose-built circuits to join the NASCAR calendar. On the 2025 calendar, it will be the second of 6 road courses, after the Circuit of the Americas, which ended with a clean-pass victory by Christopher Bell. Again, as mentioned before, there is a lot of time before the track makes its Cup Series debut.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver enjoyed his trip across the border
Aside from visiting the track, Elliott, Blaney and Bell got a taste of the Mexican culture. Among them was the ever popular Luchador matches, which the #9 driver enjoyed. Of course, this was also a moment for Daniel Suarez to shine, as he practically played tour guide for his contemporaries. Elliott attempted to run the ropes and failed after some time when he hit a rope with his side-chest. When the video surfaced, fans claimed this failed attempt was because of WWE Superstar John Cena. It was fun to watch, but there was something deeper Elliott wanted fans to know.
The HMS driver felt honored that Suarez was able to show them around in Mexico. Naturally, he was happy to see the Trackhouse Racing driver in familiar territory and see how passionate he was. Chase Elliott also admitted that Daniel Suarez deserved his fair share of flowers, for helping facilitate the whole thing.
Elliott knows Suarez relatively well, since they both progressed through the ranks around the same time. During that time, Suarez has pushed for a Cup race in Mexico, in front of his home fans. In a way, it is a dream come true for the #99 driver to finally get a home race.
